Ambrose stood at the edge of the lake, watching the surface of the water with a small smile on his face. Storm grey eyes whirled a bit as the wind started to blow just a bit. Ambrose had opted out of his professors robes and instead went with what was comfortable: comfortable jeans, a simple white t-shirt with a grey hoodie over it. Hands were in his hoodie pockets as he waited, the night growing around him. Stars would soon begin to shine and the moon would follow not too long after as it rose at the edge of the sky.
Ambrose was a bit amused that the book had been what caused them to take this walk out here. But it was good for him to get out too. Going home wasn't exactly getting out. Especially since he went home from the tower and then back again. Not really out. So yea...this was good. He was glad to be here. He ran a hand through his hair as the wind blew past his face for a moment, causing his smile to widen just a bit.

Morgana had finished restocking the potion ingredients and made sure that her ferret was secured for the night, much to his displeasure. Morgana decided that a pair of jeans, an oversized black sweater and a black stocking cap was in order. The night was a bit cool. As she walked, her black flats crunched on the gravel, her eyes looking for Ambrose. The fresh air felt nice, and a far cry from the stuffy streets of New York. Nostalgia hit her once again as she saw the lake and the Whomping Willow. Oh the memories.
She approached Ambrose and smiled, "Evening, Professor." She said, trying to choose a tone that wouldn't startle him. Hands in her back pockets she leaned around to catch his attention. She hovered back away from the water a bit, seemingly avoiding getting too close for a reason.

Ambrose had heard her coming and smiled when she approached. "Good evening...though please, call me Ambrose." He turns to her, eyes flashing ever so slightly as the storms in them whirl. "I'm glad you sent that message. I had a good time yesterday and I would be lying if I said I hadn't been thinking about you..." He smiles and there's a slight blush to his features.

Morgana looked at him, seeing the darkening of his cheeks even in the fading light. At his words she smiled, her eyes turning out to the lake. "That makes two of us, then." She said, rocking on her heels a bit ad she looked back to him. "You look a lot more comfortable not in your robes. They aren't just..you." She said. "So, shall we walk? It's been a while since I have been around the lake." She kept back still, watching as he stood on the bank near the water's edge. She brushed some hair out of her face as the wind lifted her raven locks off her shoulders.

Ambrose nods and as they begin to walk, he makes sure that he has placed himself between her and the lake. With the water to his left and her to his right, they walked along the peaceful night, the light breeze ruffling hair a bit. "I am more comfortable in these clothes..." he replies to her earlier statement. "I find that my just being relaxed helps out with the day to day." He smiles over at her. "I don't think you enjoy your robes too much either..."

Morgana smirked and looked down as they walked. "I have a tendency to customize my clothing post purchase. These are my comfy clothes. Most of my wardrobe is city attire or formal for performing, so I have to restructure my closet for Scotland." She said, turning her face up to the sky and breathing in deeply.
"I haven't felt like I could just go out and walk like this in a very long time. That's the thing about the city life; you can't slow down or you get trampled." Morgana said. "But enough of that. Do you come down here often? I used to when I went to school here."
Morgana walked along casually, no hurry to her steps and matching Ambrose's pace. "You don't give off a vibe that gets me all tense and on edge. That's new to me when it comes to people."

Ambrose shakes his head. "I don't get out much, actually. Twice a day I take a short walk from my home to the tower then back again. Once in awhile I get distracted somehow and might come down here. But usually...no." He chuckles and looks over at her. "Do you have an idea as to why I don't give off that vibe? Because the way you say it? You make it sound like that vibe comes to you often..."

The stars began to become more pronounced as the sky darkened further into night. With the exception of a few remaining birds, the crickets and frogs starting up and one far away howl, it was peaceful. "I didn't mean to acquire your time so soon. I know I should have waited for this weekend....." she trailed off.
"I don't know why. Perhaps I attract those that seem to be out to get me. My last boyfriend wasn't like that, though. It may be a recent change, or the fact that you know more about me than anyone else. Even my parents." She said, walking along, the lake being blocked by Ambrose, she felt a bit better.
"I swear it runs in the family." She chuckled, her arms crossed over her chest as she followed the path along the shoreline. The wind swirled about and a few clouds glowed with the moonlight, dancing ripples of light on the lake.

Ambrose stops and puts a hand on her elbow to stop her for a moment so she can turn to him. "Don't apologize for wanting to spend time with me. You are not inconveniencing me and I do enjoy your company, ok?" He gives her a smile and then starts walking with her once more. "Perhaps...you are recognizing what you want and gravitating towards that instead of something that will hurt you..." He glances over at her. "Everyone deserves to be happy Morgana..."

"I was happy..." she whispered, the burning behind her eyes sudden. What was that? Suddenly her eyes burned at thinking about someone? She choked it back and willed herself to look at Ambrose.
When he touched her elbow, she instinctively tensed but then relaxed. He wasn't there to hurt or kill her. Besides, her wand was in the waist of her jeans. More for the lake than Ambrose. "I didn't want to seem desperate or overbearing."
What did she just say? Good lord, her brain was turning to mush from losing Emelius. She was not liking this emotional feeling rubbish.

Ambrose nods. "And I hope you will be happy again..." he says softly, giving her a small smile as they walk. He is quiet for a moment as they walk and soon they finished a whole lap around the lake. Stopping...he thought for a moment and then grinned as he turned to her. "You wanted to get to know me better right? How about I show you something that I can do that not another person in this castle can do?" he says, eyes flashing.

Morgana stopped when Ambrose did and quirked a brow, shifting her weight to one foot. "You have my attention. Are you going to pull a coin out of my ear and make it disappear?" She asked, covering her mouth with her hand to stifle a laugh.
"No, but really. Show me what you got." She said tilting her head slightly as she waited for whatever it was Ambrose was able to do.

Ambrose nods and looks like he is about to move before stopping and turning back to her. "This might seem strange but...I a going to ask you to trust me, ok?" He offers his hand to her. "And I think the best way for this to work is if you stay close at first. Shall we?" he says, outstretched hand waiting.

Morgana eyed his hand as he offered it, her arms staying crossed for a moment. Finally, she extended a pale hand slowly and lay it in his gently. She watched him closely, not sure what to make of this.
"Ok..." she said, narrowing her gaze and then finally grasping his hand a little tighter, his skin was so warm despite the chill in the air. "I suppose I can, you haven't turned me in for murder...yet." she said jokingly, trying to mask her nerves.

Ambrose chuckles and gently leads her away from the lake. It shouldn't be too hard to see where they are going. "Everyone told me that it was unreasonable and didn't like anything getting anywhere near it. I told the Headmistress that it was perfect for me..." He had an adventurous look in those storm grey eyes and he was sure Morgana could see where they were going.
They were heading for the Whomping Willow.

Morgana started to follow him and as they passed along, the old familiar path hadn't changed much over the years. The Whomping Willow stood like a sentry against the deep blue night sky. She went rigid.
Digging her heels in hard, Morgana put tension on his hand leading her, balking from going any further. Why on earth would he go there? "I am.not sure I have the skill to play double dutch with that thing anymore." She said, the ground not holding her attempts to stop. Although her steps were hesitant and slow, she was still following Ambrose towards the beast of a tree.

Ambrose stopped for a moment. "I asked you to trust me. I promise you. Stick with me and no matter what? You will not get hurt. Everything will be fine. But please..." he put his other hand to cover hers gently and looked into her eyes, storms whirling a bit fast. "Please?"

Morgana looked into his gaze and felt his other hand on hers. Debating for a moment, she nodded and let her feet loosen up to walk with him. She gripped his arm and pulled herself closer as they walked, nearly clutching to him like a koala.
The branches loomed and the willow shuddered and was silent. Morgana felt like a student again. It was crazy how things at this school affected her the same as an adult, but she rarely shied away from conflict out in the muggle world.

Ambrose nodded and he took her to the edge of where the Willow's reach and stopped. He looked over at her. "Ready?" he asked, but he didn't wait for an answer. He began to lead her into the area. The Willow shook once more for half a second as if any moment now a branch would swoop down and...
...nothing happened. The Willow stopped shaking. Ambrose walked her all the way to the trunk where he patted the tree. "I'm home..." he whispered to it gently.

Morgana closed her eyes as they entered the strike zone and waited. She felt Ambrose stop and...nothing. She slowly opened her eyes and watched as Ambrose patted the tree. Looking from the tree to Ambrose, the confusion passed over her face. Still nothing happened.
Slowly removing a hand from her death clutch on her escort's arm, Morgana extended a hand towards the trunk of the tree, laying her hand upon it. She snapped her head to look at Ambrose, unable to speak for a moment.
"How? Home?" Morgana finally sputtered, her amazement showing. "It didn't kill us.." she whispered. "Thank you." She saod, all to the tree and nothing else.

Ambrose smiles and shakes his head. "No...she didn't." He pats the trunk again and then leans against the tree, looking over at her, moonlight shining through the branches and illuminating his eyes slightly. "This is part of my home, Morgana. I'm a changeling. We all come in different...flavors I suppose would be a good term. Different changelings can do different things. Those like me...we connect with trees..."

Her? The tree was a her? Somehow that didn't surprise Morgana. She patted the tree gently and a bit awkwardly. "Hey there...old girl." Morgana used the words the stablehands used in the barn back home for the horses. She looked at Ambrose as he told her that he was a changeling. Those eyes...
Letting her hand rest on the Willow, Morgana stood in silence and just observed. It made sense. His youthful appearance, the eyes, being prettier than she felt she was. Changeling. "I see..." Morgana said softly, removing her hand from the trunk of the tree and laying her head against it as if to hear something within.
"This is all just too amazing. You are far too interesting to hide as you do." She said, her eyes still on Ambrose.

Ambrose smiles soft, the blush returning to his cheeks. "I don't think I'm that interesting. Just someone with a natural connection." He chuckles. "It's the wizards I find so interesting. A flick of the wand and some words and the magic flows out of you in various effects. To the point where you have this...an educational academy and not just here, but in various parts of the world. You are all vastly intriguing." He looks into her eyes again. "And you I find very intriguing. I'm mostly introverted and tower locked...yet you have managed to bring me out and, admittedly, show off a bit." He chuckles. "I hope you don't find me vain..."

Morgana smiled and took her head away from the tree trunk. She looked up at the towering branches and fhe stars that peeked out betwen them. The tree that was so terrifying in her youth now stood peaceful.
"I suppose when you are a witch or wizard, it is just a way of life you get used to, not that unique. The same when you can't understand why people see where you live so interesting that they visit." Turning her gaze to Ambrose she smirked. "You are not vain. Lucky for you, I am curious." She said, her hand still on the tree trunk.

"I like curious. Curious means you have an open mind and are open to seeing things in new and different ways. It doesn't matter what a person is: Wizard, Changeling, or otherwise. Among all of them you will always find close minded individuals who, because they do not understand, will lash out instead of try to accept that new things can be normal or ok. So hiding, for now...it's a bit necessary. Could you imagine if some of the parents who were so close minded knew what I was?" He sighed and shrugged. "It's something I'm used to in all honesty...but it is good to open up when I can."

Morgana nodded. "The parents can't even accept others of their own kind based solely on bloodlines. I understand that one, completely." She turned and looked about, then back to the Willow.
"Making the choice to come back here was wise for me. I have been in denial of my roots and what I am for some time." She shrugged and sighed. "Coming out here has shown me it isn't all that bad. Teaching the class I excelled at gives me something to stick to. I am sure your teaching Divination has given you something as well." She said, shaking her head.
"Just...wow."

"I think it's safe to say that I for one am glad you came back..." he said softly, a bit more blush darkening the cheeks of the changeling. He continued to lean against the trunk of the Willow as he smiled at Morgana, taking in all of her features as the moonlight highlighted them. She was a beautiful woman, he knew that from yesterday. Tonight...there was something else. A more...relaxed atmosphere now that they were just talking like this. No hard exterior to keep things out. Just...Morgana.

Morgana noticed Ambrose watching her and she blinked a bit, feeling the intense gaze. She knew that he could figure out her darkest secrets, the darkest of them all was already out in the light. Tonight she was in rare form.
"Who or what hurt you?" She asked, her eyes piercing his, unwavering. She knew that being different wasn't the only reason he hid, and him thanking her for getting him out of the tower, and his references to her, showed there was more to it. Leaning against the willow, she sat down between its massive roots and patted the ground, looking up at him.

Ambrose moved to sit next to her and sighed as he leaned against the tree. "Well...there was my last...relationship. I was left behind after she met someone else. It was...sudden really. I thought we had a good thing going. But...I can't underestimate how one's heart can change." He shrugged and looked up towards the moon. "Then there was before..." He looks over at her. "Morgana...I haven't told anyone about before. It's...difficult to understand if you haven't gone through it. You may not like what I tell you..."

Morgana looked at Ambrose as he spoke, her mind relating to what he was saying. It not only formed who you were in the moment, but it defined who you would be after it ended. That much she understood.
"It's not going to inconvenience me or scar me for life. You only know a fraction of what I have experienced. Unless you were up all night reading that book of yours." She said, a twitch at the corner of her mouth a failed smirk. She scooted over a bit so she was shoulder to shoulder with Ambrose. "Go on..." she urged.
