The castle this evening has been dressed in hues of red lighting, blood red and white roses, candles, filtered shadows, and acoustics played by ghouls (as closely to the song as possible). Elezandra seems to be in a very thoughtful and passion filled mood. The music is real, the emotions in the room are elevated into a state of reality.
The presence of the woman singing in front of them rivals anything the son of discord could produce, flooding anyone and everyone in the room (who allows it) the ability to feel human again and regain all senses of emotion. The song seems deeply, deeply personal. In the middle tears start to appear on her cheeks and they are not made out of blood, they are real mortal tears. The glint and stick lightly to her pale skin as she continues to play a piano and sing to the room.
As the song comes to an end the affect of the emotions lingers for a bit longer than planned, it is quite possible she herself doesn't realise that she has produced the effect. ((It'll fade after 4 posts made by a character who allowed it in.))
It won't go away, These aching memories still dance around me, Spilling over everything with beauty, I see your face in everything before me Your voice is haunting me.
Oh I belong with you now, Oh please give in to me, And stay forever, Don't leave me behind.
So afraid of dreaming, The story is repeating, screaming, Monsters, I'm bleeding, I'm losing light in myself, Come back into me, 'cause only you can save me.
I belong with you now, Oh please give in to me, And stay forever, Don't leave me behind.
I belong with you now, Oh please give in to me, And stay forever, Don't leave me behind.

Rose had heard Elezandra, the Keeper of Castle Vampyre, was hosting a reception on that night, though the program of the festivities had not been disclosed. Nevertheless she didn't hesitate. The Tremere Regent really had come to enjoy the personality of the Keeper and her company over the years. Her presence was never overwhelming but it was strong and unwavering. When she arrived, wearing a light, summery, royal blue cocktail dress, she was surprised not to find more people already gathering around Elezandra. She looked back at Nikolaus, as if to see if he was surprised by it too and then her attention returned to the hostess. "The decoration is truly divine. You really outdid yourself tonight, my dear Elezandra." Rose wasn't expecting Elezandra to sing, nor did she expect what effect her performance would have on her. As soon as the Keeper of Elysium's voice started resonating against the castle's walls, the Tremere found herself flooded with emotions and memories from her past life. When she was still mortal. When she was still a witch. When she still had a family and her future seemed already set and without surprise. She made a small sound at the back of her throat and hurried to a nearby armchair, before sitting down. Her movements were less calculated and elegant as usual, as if she was feeling dizzy. And she actually kind of was. Her head was spinning, trying to deal with all kinds of contradictory and very much human emotions she'd gotten out of the habit of dealing with a long time ago. Of course, the Tremere still felt echoes of emotions as a vampire but none as vivid and vibrant as that. The blonde looked up at Nikolaus, a silent question dancing in her hazel eyes. Do you feel them too? Her unbeating heart seemed to be beating faster and she didn't know what to think of it. This sudden rush of emotions hurt and made want to cry and yet... It was as if she was finding back something she'd lost, remembering something she'd forgotten.

Word had reached David of the reception this evening and he could not pass up seeing Elezandra once more. The last time he had spoken to her directly would be something he would never forget. As he entered he saw the great gathering of Cainites. He felt out of place to a degree, the whole clans and bloodline thing but never the less he was here and always enjoyed being here. His eyes gazing around the room and how it was all decorated and soaked it all in and smiled loving what he was seeing. Then his eyes saw Elezandra and he quietly stood there letting the memory flow him for now remembering her words to him of their conversation and then her voice came on and his eyes go from cold and distant to soft. The emotions took hold of him and the music and her voice overtaking him. The memories of his wife, his son, Aisha....all of them coming alive fully inside of him to the point he felt he would burst. It felt like any moment his heart would start beating again. His eyes never moving from Elezandra and her performance. Then the realization slammed him like a freight train. He was in love. What Elezandra was doing....he was in love with Aisha. The flood never ceasing and yes he was gazing but in his mind he was with Aisha right now.

Nikolaus had been eager to get out of the Chantry for a while, now; he'd considered taking walks through Diagon Alley at night, maybe visiting Westminster, particularly that little hole-in-the-wall pub directly across the street from Big Ben - Stephen's Tavern, he thinks Rose had called it, when she said it was one of her favorite places in muggle London - but when he'd heard that Elezandra was hosting a reception at the inter-sect Elysium at the unsubtly-named Castle Vampyre, his wanderlust was sated, if only temporarily. Limping in behind the impeccably-dressed Rose, Nikolaus had chosen a matching blue, tailored suit he'd picked up at Burberry the previous week; one of the nice things about undeath is that he could always count on his measurements never changing. He was about to speak as well, when Elezandra began singing. He felt... odd, but he had very little time to think about it before the Regent ran off. She was about a head shorter than him, so tracking her wasn't difficult; but she was moving quickly, and it was all he could do to keep up. With each passing second, emotions flooded back into him; the adrenaline rush from the sounds of explosions during the war, the feeling of always being on the run, the schadenfreude of reading in the papers of another train derailment and broken supply chains leading into and out of France... and the first time he saw Rose shortly before his embrace, when he couldn't feel his legs and thought for sure her beautiful face was the last thing he was ever going to see, along with the smell of sulfur and TNT. And seeing Rose like that... He nodded. Yes, he thought back, not even realizing his hand was resting on her shoulder, as if trying to comfort her. Yes, I feel them. He could barely hear Elezandra's voice, nor did he seem to notice that there were dozens of other Kindred surrounding them; all he could see, hear, or think about was Rose.

Rose had barely noticed David as he entered the room and joined the rest of the crowd, though she did recognize him as the vampire who flirted with Aisha at Mary's club. Had she been using Auspex, she'd have been surprised by the color of his aura. Such strong emotions as love were certainly rare or even unheard of in vampires. But right now, her own emotions were enough to keep her busy.
She gave a start as Nikolaus placed a hand on her shoulder before relaxing and almost leaning into the touch. It was meant as a soothing gesture, she could tell, and it felt as such. Her expression softened a bit, making her look almost vulnerable. 'I can't remember the last time I felt like this.' Or felt at all, for that matter. 'It's almost...' She had meant to say 'painful' but the thought died before she could project it. There was something about the way Nikolaus was looking at her. It was the same and yet different. It was... the way that young soldier had looked at her back then, after she saved him from an explosion.
The Tremere Regent blinked at the realization of what that implied. Did Elezandra's voice really hold that much power?

David stood there for what seemed an eternity. Once his senses returned somewhat he gazed around the room. His eyes setting upon Rose and Nikolaus for a moment. His memories coming to him seeing them at the club opening but never speaking with them. Slowly he walks over to the bar and orders a glass and nods. Walking quietly now letting his emotions that were awake from Elezandra flow more and more as she sat down at a table now alone and staring at his glass. His eyes never leaving the glass as though it was showing him things but it did not. His memories flooding him.
First came of his wife and child and the love he had for them both. Then came fear.....and the memory of an old sea shanty invading his mind. The very shanty that convinced a certain captain to embrace him on an evening that he would never forget. The man minus a hand. Slowly he tilts his head and a mere whisper of a song came forth, the old shanty. No power behind his voice just him singing in a whisper as he slowly rolls the glass in his hands.

Who was she looking at-- wait, wasn't that the one talking to Aisha? ... no matter. This Presence is hitting him particularly hard, and he couldn't possibly care about anyone or anything other than Rose at this moment. He hadn't realized his hand was on her shoulder until she was leaning into it. No, he couldn't remember the last time he felt like this, either; Los Angeles had no shortage of Toreador (and the odd Ventrue) in Hollywood, but none of them had ever affected him this strongly. And if she could affect Rose, then Elezandra was every bit as powerful as he thought she was when he first saw her when the truce between Mary and Rose was signed.
This Elysium really was unassailable. It's a damned good thing Elezandra doesn't seem interested in picking sides between the Camarilla and the Sabbat. Just how powerful was she? A Methuselah?
Me neither... he thought back, his grip tightening just ever-so-slightly. But I think I like it.

Elezandra simply closes her hands into a clasp in front of her as the song ended. A couple of the acoustic players step away from her and pick up a tray of glasses, offering drinks to those in attendance. She herself seemed in some deep thought, caught up in her own song. She gently wipes away the mortal tear from her face and looks up, regaining her composure again. "I do see Mr. Alexander in attendance. Please, step forth and showcase your talent." She steps aside and motions to where she had been standing during her song. "Charm us with your music, let us revel amongst each other this evening without prejudice." She steps aside with a pleasant smile.

David was lost within his memories and emotions until he heard Elezandra speak and directly at him. His eyes locking to her as he stopped spinning his glass in his hands. She was requesting him to come on stage and perform. Slowly he stood and took a deep drink setting the glass down on the table and quietly made his way to the stage. Once upon the stage quietly he speaks with the house band explaining the song and once that was finished he slowly makes his way to where Elezandra had motioned and for a moment stood there and the emotions that had stirred and the memories. His wife, his child, his sire and how he was embraced against his will. That would be the emotions he would use for this very specific song. He would use the regret and loss he was feeling right now.
Slowly his glowing crystal blue eyes open and he let forth his gift into the song letting it fill the room for all to feel. His heart poured into each lyric, the tone of his voice matching flawlessly his emotions that were tearing at him. He wanted all to feel what he was feeling. Maybe even touch someone with his song.
Sure this was dangerous because there could be a daughter here and he would not know but right now this was what he felt he needed to do to release what he was feeling right now.

As Elezandra stopped singing, Rose closed her eyes. The emotions were still there, bubbling inside of her. Yet she knew they would fade eventually and she couldn't decide whether to try to hold them back or to help them out. Feeling alive was not something she usually missed but now she was starting to wonder if it was simply because she didn't remember what it was like?
She felt Nikolaus' grip tightening and when she would usually have considered it a threatening move, right then, it made her feel safe. She looked up at the redhead and her hand rose slowly to touch his face. But then, Elezandra spoke up and stopped her mid-move. She turned away and watched David get on stage.
Another artist? Rose wondered if any of them could tell she was a musician. Some humans pretended artists could 'recognize' one another. But, without using the proper Tremere discipline, Rose herself had never been able to.
When the Son of Discord started his performance, Rose knew he was using a similar kind of magic Elezandra had used on her audience before. Similar yet different. The previous emotions the Tremere had felt had been strong but positive for the most part. Now... she was feeling grief and sorrow. A house full of roses. Just like her parents'. How her mother enjoyed tending to her roses. She remembered their rich smell and the fact that there were so many different varities of them, they kept blooming throughout spring and half of the summer.
We've all been victims of a crime Victims of a crime Living with this crime I'm missing you
And she'd lost them. All of them. Because of Gellert Grindelwald.
Rose bit her lip. She wasn't going to start crying now. She hadn't cried back then. Why would she now? That'd be absurd.
She didn't shed any tear but her hand found Nikolaus' and tightened around it to the point that it would have hurt if he wasn't Kindred. She tried to force a smile on her face.
'I should have brought my violin.'
She said to her fellow Tremere, using Auspex. Hopefully it would sound as detached as she had intended.

'Mr. Alexander.' Wait... the same one mentioned in the papers? Well, that explained a lot. He didn't seem to be a Toreador, but Nikolaus didn't have long to ponder that thought. He turned back to Rose, his other hand moving to her other shoulder. He had never seen her looking like this before... sad. She was usually all business, all the time, never one to let her emotions get the better of her. He had seen two sides of her tonight that he didn't even know existed. Had he the presence of mind to consider that thought, he'd have taken several moments to let it sink in.
But it was beginning to hit him, too. It didn't feel quite like the Toreador's Presence ability. No... this was something else entirely. It's as if his voice was what was causing it. Nikolaus wasn't as knowledgeable about rare bloodlines as Rose was; the only ones he had read about were the Baali and the Followers of Set (due to their repeated attempts to infiltrate or otherwise influence the Tremere Pyramid), and the Salubri (due to their history with the Tremere). Whatever he was, Nikolaus couldn't follow his own train of thought. For the first time in decades, he had realized that he had never seen his family again after his embrace. His parents surely weren't alive, but was his sister? Did she have children? Grandchildren? What did they know about him? Do they think he died a hero, or a terrorist not much better than the people he was fighting? Do they even know he died at all? Or maybe they think he was a coward who ran away the minute the German tanks rolled into Strasbourg?
It was dawning on him that he'd never had any real friends after his embrace. Colleagues and fellow apprentices, sure, but the Tremere intentionally fostered rivalry between acolytes and apprentices, resulting in, at best, relationships defined by trying to one-up each other. The closest thing to a friend he has now is Rose, and despite their close relationship, it remains, for the most part, strictly professional. But in that moment... all he wanted was to try to make her feel better. Moreso than he even wanted to help himself.
Perhaps later, once both this Melpominee and Presence have worn off, he'd ponder the implications of that. But for now...
"One moment," he said aloud. It's a good thing their car was still parked outside.
Nikolaus would briefly flash red, before vanishing into thin-air. A minute or so would pass, before teleporting back into the exact same position he had been standing in before; only with a Stradivarius case made of polished ebony in his hands, which he held out, offered to Rose. "I took the liberty of putting it the trunk," he said, forcing a smile despite the grief clouding his mind. He knew that was risky. That violin was Rose's baby, nobody touched it but her unless they wanted to lose a limb. Hopefully, given the circumstances, she'll let it slide.

The song finally finishes and David stands there for a moment quiet and somber his glowing blue crystal eyes gazing down as he held onto the mic stand. Slowly his hands drop and looking to Elezandra he gives a respectful bow to her and made his way off stage now and back to his table in the back of the room sitting once more. His thumb gliding over his lower lips as his eyes fell to the table staring into nothing. That song......It made him wonder.....did his son grow to be a man? Did he find the love of his life and start a family of his own? Did he have descendants?
So many questions were plaguing him right now. For the moment his memory came of the very last time he saw his mortal wife and infant son. His sire had told him that he was never to see them again. Still while in port in Saint Malo he was able to sneak to his mortal home and was able to gaze into the window of his home and seeing his mortal wife rocking his infant son to sleep. The song she was singing was one he had taught to her that he learned on one of his sea voyages.
A blood tear fell and he quickly wiped it away not wanting any Cainite in the room to see it and grabbed his glass and deeply drank finishing his glass and placing it on the table. Though for a slight moment there was a small smile remembering the song his wife was singing to his son. It was the very last time he ever saw them. Now the memory fades and the woman now in his memory his love now. He would never tell her but there were similarities he would never speak of between his mortal wife and her. He would take that to his final death.

Rose felt the magic rather than she actually noticed Nikolaus teleporting back and forth to bring back her violin. She would usually have been mad at anyone who would so much as lay a finger on her violin, including Nikolaus. But not tonight. The blonde reached out for the musical instrument and nursed it against her as if it'd been a pet, or even a child.
"Thank you, Nikolaus," she had a few tears in her eyes.
She stared down at the violin for the longest time, even after David had left the stage. She was so far back in time that Castle Vampyre could have fallen down on top of them, her Whip would probably have had to carry her out. Rose could see her sister Celeste get her flute out of its sheath and her Mom sit in front of the piano, like they used to do every time the three of them were about to play.
"What song, today?" Rose murmured, and there was a small smile on her lips.

That smile... that genuine happiness from Rose, something he thought he'd never see at times. She was usually cold, calculating, the quintessential Tremere Regent. But tonight...
Whatever Elezandra and David had done, he silently thanked them for it. He likely wouldn't do it out loud, but... in that moment, it was genuine.
"I don't care," he said to Rose, his voice uncharacteristically emotional, like he was on the verge of tears himself. But were they tears of sadness, or joy? He wasn't sure. He felt sad before, but now...
"I just like hearing you play."

"Please, if anyone should wish to express themselves, now is the time to reach deep into yourselves and show us what moves you." She motions gently to the stage for a moment then goes back to clasping her goblet in both hands, taking sips as she very thoughtfully watches the room. It seemed to be going in a much better motion and direction than she had originally anticipated. Her eyes studies everyone individually from time to time, her mind wandering around in a deep pondering about things she was most curious about.

David's eyes move from the table he was sitting at and slowly watch over the room. His eyes gazing at Elezandra for a few moments and thoughts of his own as he looks to the other kindred in the room then to Rose Nikolaus. Seeing the violin he looks back to his glass looking forward to another performance and gazing to the stage. His emotions raw right now and alive once more.
Aisha was not Florentia and for too long he had been without another to spend his life with. His mind returning to the first time Elezandra ever spoke to him and ponder her words once more. What was their true meaning? Had he not listened properly until now? Was how he felt with and for Aisha....was that what Elezandra had meant to him?
He finishes his glass and remains where he is. Or was there more to Elezandra's words that right now he had not understood completely? Perhaps maybe....he needed to come to the castle more often and speak more with its keeper? This place did somewhat start to feel like a second home to him.

Rose had not meant those words for Nikolaus, nor for anyone else in the room for that matter. So when the other Tremere actually answered her, it took the Regent aback. She blinked at him as if she were just waking up from a dream. In a way, she was. Though, she was not sure she had really wanted to.
Then Elezandra spoke up, and it was as if she knew she was addressing her, and only her.
Rose nodded and got up, still holding her violin close to her chest. She made her way to the center of the stage and after a few moments, she placed the musical instrument against her shoulder and chin, her fingers curling around the violin's neck, pressing firmly against the strings. Her hand holding the stick traced an arc in the air before she closed her eyes and started to play.
The music was soft yet violent, sometimes rapid, sometimes slow. It talked of love and war, of families and enemies, of hopes and delusions. It talked of the ones you lose to your ambition and the ones you save from their selflessness. As she played, Rose seemed to be in a sort of trance in which the world around her ceased to exist replaced by a mix of memories and of visions of her possible future.

Nikolaus looked confused as Rose began getting up. He was beginning to get a grip on himself, before Elezandra's words spoke in. She wanted Rose to perform, now? Well, he wasn't invited, and even if they probably had a piano around here somewhere, but there was no question about whom Elezandra was speaking. As Rose got onto the stage - something Nikolaus wondered if Rose had ever foreseen herself doing - he eagerly awaited her performance, settling into his seat, his cane laid across his knees and below his folded hands.
Sure enough... one of his favorite performances by Rose. He'd played with her on occasion before - him on the piano, her on the violin - as a way for the both of them to relax. Rose really was incredibly talented, and this was just one of the ways in which that talent manifested himself. Nikolaus had been enthralled with her from the moment they'd met. He just sat, silently, unable to tear his eyes away from her as she performed, all the while his mind poring over the way he had behaved while under the effects of Presence and Melpominee.
He was a vampire. He wasn't supposed to have feelings like that. Were they real? Or... just the effects of their potent Disciplines? He didn't know. It was a topic that would surely come up later, but in hindsight, perhaps he had felt so strongly about their dance before than even he had realized, and it had taken something like Elezandra and David's voices to bring such an epiphany to the surface.

Slowly David's attention turned to Rose and listening to every chord, every note that she played. So many memories flowing once more. His battles at sea, the smell of burning powder from a fired deck cannon, the sounds of steel against steel of the sword fights, the sea shanties of his men upon the winds of the roaring sea, the smell of rum, the noise of gold coin to gold coin.
The images so vivid as he listened to Rose play and his soul what was left or whatever it was now longing for those lost days. The days where life was so simple. The marking of a map, the turning of the wheel, the setting course with the stars to destinations to be discovered and lets not forget messing with the English and Spanish and bringing their riches they had plundered back to France for his King.
The battles so fierce not knowing if you would survive causing the adrenaline to rush and the blood to boil. Tactics, battle strategies......then the memories shift...loss of loved ones. The memory of his wife standing upon the dock each time he would come home waiting for him. How was she told of his death? Was the captain gentle about it or was she never told and she felt that he left her.....his son Baptiste, never knowing his father....he wanted better for his son, not to be a privateer...wanted him to be something more and was he able to do just that?
Gliding his thumb along his lower lip as he always did so deep in thought. His memory shifting to his greatest enemy...the one who turned him after slaughtering his crew and destroying the ship he loved so much. Being used and abused in all forms and fashions.....but the memories of a few good moments with Renee before the storm that caused the shipwreck.
Leaning back in his chair he tilts his head slightly. His eyes would show the menagerie playing out in his mind.

As she reached the end of the song, Rose stopped playing, almost abruptly. She felt completely drained, for some reason, both physically and emotionally. Playing the violin had never done that to her before and she briefly wondered if it was because of how emotionally draining the rest of the evening had been, because of the influence of Elezandra or because Nikolaus never took his eyes off of her during her entire performance.
During a minute or two, she remained in the center of the stage, immobile, staring down at the floor but not actually seeing it. Then, she looked up her eyes locking Nikolaus.
'Please,' she thought to the other Tremere, 'Take me back home.'
She would send a note to Elezandra later to apologize to her for taking a French leave, no pun intended. But right now, all she could think about is that she needed to spend some time alone, in the safety of their Haven.

Elezandra simply nodded to Rose as she started to leave, it was transparent that she understood why the woman would want or desperately need to leave. She sits down at the piano in the room and gently starts to play some music. She seems very calm, her attention has shifted to a stained glass window in the back of the main castle chamber. The effect would start to dissipate now from the room, ceasing its relentlessness flood of emotions as a wave gently lapping at minds and hearts until it is washed back out of the room.

The effect of Elezandra and David's Discipline were just starting to wear off and Nikolaus was feeling more like 'himself' now. He still felt drawn to Rose but he could think more rationally now. He noticed the way she seemed kind of out of it and he knew what she was going to ask him before she even did.
'Tout de suite, Madame.'
He nodded and walked towards her as fast as he could muster, then he reached out for her and, using the path of Mercury one more, teleported them both outside.
The nice thing about this castle existing on its own plane of existence was that they would reappear wherever they were before. Rose and Nikolaus were smart enough not to physically enter it from within the Chantry; they usually entered it from somewhere in Diagon Alley or somewhere in Westminster. Today, it was from near the SSE Wembley Arena, fittingly enough, where their car was parked. They'd figured it would make for easy hunting.
Once in the courtyard, he would lead Rose beyond the boundaries of Castle Vampyre. They'd reappear in a blind spot from Wembley's CCTV network behind one of the columns.
Just like Rose, it was on his to-do list to speak more with Elezandra next opportunity they'd have. She was clearly very old, and very powerful; curious that she'd chosen to remove herself so thoroughly from the Jyhad, she could very easily become a major power player if she desired. But then again, it's basically an open secret at this point that she's one of the Inconnu.

David quietly glanced at Rose and Nikolaus and their departure and looked towards Elezandra as he could feel his emotions subsiding once more with the exception of one. The way he sat and his demeanor returning to how he normally was. He looked at his watch and figured the best course would be to remain here at the Castle this evening and returning to London the next night.
Finishing his glass he slowly stands and looks to the stage to Elezandra and give a slight bow of respect and walked towards the rooms now selecting one and quietly entered shutting the door behind him leaving it unlocked. Quietly removing his jacket and draping it over a chair he lays down upon the bed wth one arm under his head and looking towards the ceiling in silent thought.
Aisha running through his mind.
