Thulile was a bit of a late arrival, having needed to set up with her art supplies. Didn't help she had signed on late to this whole ordeal. Surprisingly it hadn't taken much to get her boss to let her off for the time. He'd pointed out that this whole adventure was so she could start visiting places around the world and encouraged her to go. With the financing from her benefactor, she even had enough money to not have to worry either. So here she was at a camp for kids as a counselor.
Her hair was blue after the grand opening of the club, done just for Matilda as Thulile remembered the painting her little protege had done. She just hoped the young girl would be happy at the little surprise. Thulile remembered very well what it was like coming from a strict muggle background into the wizarding world. At least Thulile had somewhat of a guide in her great-grandmother. Well, she would give Matilda the advantage of an eccentric artsy witch on top of the guidance she was already receiving from Dristan.
In beaten up jeans, vans and an oversized long sleeve shirt over a tank top Thulile was making her way to the bonfire, pulling her thick blue hair into a side ponytail when s dashing figure was seen. Thulile blinked, making out Matilda with a fur ball in her arms. Concerned, Thulile followed. Coming up to the door of the cabin Matilda had gone into, Thulile paused and gave a soft knock before stepping inside. "Matilda, was that you I saw?" she asked as she looked for the girl.

Matilda was startled by the voice and let out a scream of shock and looked up. She head tears running down her face and Morticia had dug her claws into the child as she had screamed. Morticia was quicker to recover though then Matilda was and she jumped down and ran to the woman she had taken art lessons with. Morticia was meowing and purring rubbing up against her legs.
Matilda sat up and cleared her throat wiping her eyes. "Um, yeah. Sorry about that. Wait!? How are you here Ms. Masters?" She jumped up and ran to the woman and hugged her tightly. "Just a bad reaction to a prank or joke the other adults were doing to us kids." She cried and then stopped, sniffing her sobs back.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to react that way. It was just, I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach that I had to run away, that I felt like this before. I don't know when or where or why, but it scared me. Then Morticia ran off as well and I was worried about her." She took a deep breath to settle herself some.
"Also, there was this little guy, I think guy, weird looking big ears and eyes dressed like a person...but not a person that kind of added to the freak...and all of the adults have this thing where they can turn into animals..which was awesome but creepy on how it was done." She finally stopped talking and looked up at Ms. Masters.

Thulile was startled by the scream, instantly worried for Matilda more and sorry she had scared her. The worry was overpowering, though, when she saw the tears. Letting Morticia wind about her legs Thulile focused her attention on the pre-teen. She'd greet Morticia later. For now, she opened her arms and folded Matilda into them. A hand rising up to smooth over the girl's hair.
"Slow down there a little. I'm sorry, I didn't see what happened. I was still settling in." Thulile hugged the girl a little tighter before bringing her hand over to gently wipe away tears with her thumb from Matilda's cheeks. "I wanted to surprise you. And, well, I guess it really is a good thing I came, yeah?" A small smile appeared on her lips.
Keeping an arm around Matilda's shoulders, Thulile lead her over to what appeared to be her bed. Then, kicking off her shoes, Thulile climbed up into the bed sitting back against the wall and patted the bed beside her for Matilda to come and curl up against her. "So I take it there was a bit of a camping prank that happened with animagi?" Thulile asked, trying to decipher what Matilda had said. "And it scared you? Then a strange creature you never saw before just made you feel more anxious?"

Matilda followed her to her bunk and crawled up next to her and sighed. Her tears had finally stopped and she liked the feeling of being close with someone at the camp like this. She hadn't had any parents and she missed Teagan a lot and Ms. Masters made her feel like Teagan was with her in a small way.
Morticia followed them up and curled up between the two and laid down, her eyes closing but her ears seemed to be listening to anything that may need her attention. "Yes, that is the word they used. They showed us them in a way." She sighed softly. "I guess I over reacted some. I wasn't really thinking to be honest, I just became overwhelmed with my feelings I think."
She laid there looking out at nothing as she sat quiet for a few minutes. "Also, it is awesome that you came here." She looked up with a smile on her face.

When Morticia settled between them Thulile reached over and scratched behind her ears in an absent fashion. One she commonly used for Lorcan... who was in her own room curled up currently. Tilting her head to the side Thulile let her cheek rest against the top of Matilda's head. Her hand moving up and down over Matilda's arm.
"That's the thing about emotions. They happen whether we want them to or not. Most times they don't make much sense, at least not while they're happening. It's alright to feel them, though."Thulile gave the girl a little squeeze for comfort. "Plus, some people just don't react well to some things. And everyone is different. It doesn't help that you're not exposed to things like this. It makes everything more wonderful, but even scarier."
Thulile then grinned a bit. "Plus, I'm here now. And I may not be the best at defense, but I'll be more than happy to keep you safe from all the scary things and lecture those that go overboard and scare you into tears. I may be short, but if I can lecture a big scary vampire into being polite, I think I can help wrangle some overzealous magical campers. Yeah?" Thulile, of course, wouldn't say how she hadn't known Erskine was a vampire at that point, nor that she was sure she got away with the lecture only because, well... Erskine just seemed so taken with her.

Matilda suddenly sat up and stared at Ms. Masters. "Vampires?!? They are real?!? Like real real?!?" Matilda seemed shaken about that fact. "There really are monsters? In this world? What was that one creature thing with the other lady that was an owl then?" She looked up wondering what else there was now in the world.
"I am glad you are here. It helps." She stood up and looked around. "Maybe we can go back to the camp fire together and I will try to be better? I just have this feeling that something happened before and I don't know what it is. I will think about it later though."
She looked at Morticia who jumped down and slinked along her legs. "Think we can handle the camp fire?" She leaned down and pet her kitten and looked up at Ms. Masters and smiled.

Thulile blinked and then had to chuckle at that. "Yeah, vampires are really, but their not necessarily monsters. Monsters can be anyone. Even muggles can be monsters. It all depends on the individual. I mean, I've met two so far that are good people. And that little creature you met? He was likely a House Elf. They serve magical families, like maids and butlers and cooks. Nothing you would need to worry about. There are dragons, and unicorn and pixies and gnomes... all kinds of things."
When Matilda stood up Thulile shortly followed suit. Oh, the resilience of the young. Already bouncing back from a scare. Reaching out Thulile took her hand and placed her other over top. "And we can go only if you want to. I'll be there and you can stay by me if you want. Alright?" Thulile said before reaching out to tuck some of Matilda's hair back behind her ear.

Matilda looked up in wonder. "Really? That is epic! Pixies? Are they like Faires? That would be so awesome! I could meet someone like Tinker Bell!" She was bouncing again with excitement. "I can't wait to see some these things!" She was pulling on Thulile's hand. "Come on let's get back before we miss to much!"
Morticia was already bumbling out the front of the cabin waiting on them. "I would really like for you to stay with me." She turned and smiled at the woman. She had grown to think of her as a sister a big sister who would always be there for her. At least that was her feeling, she didn't know for sure.
