"Her name is Morticia." She smiled and still her eyes had grown when the woman shifted. It was odd but awesome. She felt her heart jump a bit at the sensation of watching the new found magic that some people had. "Yes, art can't hurt you and it captures so much." She smiles as she shows her the sketch book.
If Ms. Redthistle takes the sketchbook to look through it, she would see the great danes on the first page, with Teagan and Dristan behind each one and the faint glow of the baby that they were expecting. Throughout the next several would be covered with more drawings of Teagan and Dristan, dancing, or laughing, or even them all reading together in the library. There was a picture of Kiami and Ms. Masters as well. Her hair was different in this drawing and then there was a picture of the kittens meeting the first time. A ferret was playing with Morticia in another picture. In the last few pictures, they were quick sketches that depicted the events that were around the bonfire.

Agatha works with Quinn, Victoire, and some of the other older children, to run games and activities that last well into the evening. Close to midnight, everyone is seated around the subsiding campfire, watching the coals spit, and toasting marshmallows, sipping cider, and doing normal campfire-y things.
"Who knows any ghost stories?" She asks of those gathered?

Calista flipped through the book, the glow from the fire illuminating the pages. "Is this your family?" She asked gently. The girl had remarkable talent. Calista was a collector of fine art, and drew and painted herself. Her carriahe house was to be her private studio and gallery.
"Is this something you would like to do more of in the future?" Calista asked, revisiting some of the drawings then looking back to Matilda.

"I want it to be my family. If the states allow them to adopt me. If not, I am stuck in the states alone in the system." She sighed as she spoke softly. She wanted them to be family and she knew that somewhere they were inside of her, but she wanted more, she wanted physical proof of it. She wanted the paper.
"Yes. Dristan actually sent me to Ms. Masters for a day and we worked on art all day long. It was fun. I love it. There is just something about it that draws me. I hope that I can have a talent like she does on a canvas. She does some beautiful work. Do you draw and paint also?" She looked up at her as she took her journal back and smiled at it. Family, that is what was in these pages.

Calista thought about it for a moment and her mind turned to her own son, traveling with his grandparents. She would see him come autumn, but it wasn't soon enough. She smiled at Matilda. "I am a believer that if you want something enough, it will happen." She said, putting a gentle arm around the girl. Nova jumped up into her lap and headbutted Matilda a bit, trying to rub on her arm.
"I do paint and draw. I also collect art. I know talent and you have it, my dear. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." She said, smiling. She pulled Nova off the girl and stood up. "Now, why don't we go get some cider and get this summer off to a better start?"

Matilda smiled. "I hope so." She laughed softly as she pet Nova's head. "Her eyes are two different colors. They are pretty." She pet the cat. "Thank you. I hope it comes to something later in life." She stood and kissed Nova on the head before letting her down. "Okay. Cider it is." She smiled and put her stuff away and skipped off to get some cider.
As the night went on, Matilda joined in some of the games. She was laughing and enjoying herself when they all finally found themselves around the campfire again. "Are Ghosts real?" She looked up to Aunt Agatha as she mentioned the ghost stories.

Agatha smiled. "They most definitely are!" She says. "At Hogwarts, the school in Scotland, they have many hosts, and each house has their own ghost mascot, if you will. But the ghost stories I speak of now are muggle fantasies, meant to scare little children in the night. Real ghosts are more or less just like you and me, just dead."

Kiami found herself enjoying the games with the other children, the joy made her eyes sparkle. She had never had this much fun with children her own age before. It was late when the games and music came to an end. Children crowded around the bonfire, each chatting and laughing as everyone toasted marshmallows over the flame. Kiami couldn't stop smiling.
Gomez had snuck off earlier in the evening and curled up close to Agatha, his faint breathing told Kiami the kitten was worn out, as he had fallen asleep. She decided to leave him there until the children were heading off to bed.
Looking around Kiami couldn't believe how happy and content everyone looked. She stood stretching as she quietly went to get some cider, sipping happily as she let her eyes roam over the many bodies that sat around the small clearing.
Getting back to her spot, she wondered how Matilda had faired through out the evening. The two girls had gone their separate ways during the activities, but it made Kiami happy to know they would swap stories of the night back at the cabin. She wondered if they would be the only two there again tonight, or maybe some of the children here had settled in earlier that day.
Gomez suddenly mewed and butted her knee, pulling her from her quiet thoughts. Chuckling she scoops him up into her lap, and whispers to him as her curls comfortably on her. "Hey boy, did you have a nice nap? I'm happy to have you, I thought you had abandoned me for Mrs Agatha." She laughed as she scratched gently behind his ears. He mewed again, happy for the attention.
Kiami looked up at the sound of Agatha's voice carrying softly over the clearing. She decided to let someone else answer, she didn't know any ghost stories, and wasn't sure she wanted to hear any, after all she had a wild imagination, and was easily scared.

Matilda stood with Moricia and went to sit next to Kiami. A soft bump into her shoulder. "Hi." She smiles as her as Morticia curls up leaning half on her leg and half into Kiami's lap. "You looked liked you had a lot of fun. I can't wait to show you the picture I drew of you and that egg race." She chuckled softly as she looked up to Aunt Agatha.
"I wonder if Ilvermoury will have ghosts also. Like not the scary kind though. It would be neat to see them. I don't know really any stories though. Maybe the counselors know some?" A slight giggle as she drank her cider and looked around the fire. One kid was already passed out with a marshmallow hanging from his mouth and she pointed it out to Kiami, as she tried not to burst out laughing at the sight.

Agatha steps from her usual chair, and slowly begins to circle the bonfire, moving in and around the children .... as she does, she speaks softly and slowly, a tale for them.
"Some of you older children may have heard this one, because it's as old as time itself ...
"Long ago, a young man met and fell in love with a beautiful young woman. She was always dressed exquisitely and she always wore a black ribbon around her neck."
Agatha waved her wand, and images appeared in the flames above the bonfire, illustrating the tale.
"Soon the man and the woman were married and moved into a little cottage by the sea. They started out very happily, but soon the young man became more and more curious as to why his wife wore a ribbon around her neck all the time. One day he decided to ask her. The only answer he received was that he would be sorry if she took it off, so she would not take it off. "
The images moved. A wedding, a home, a happy couple, the conversation.
"The young man was not happy with his wife's answer. Time passed and eventually all he could think about was that black ribbon. One day, he awoke before his wife, went into her sewing box and got a pair of scissors, and cut off the ribbon that was around her neck."
The images showed the man, the scissors, and the moment of cutting the ribbon.
"His wife woke up with a start. Her head fell off and rolled onto the floor while the woman screamed 'Itold you you'd be sorry!'"
And as the head rolled off a large pumpkin fell from the sky, rolling in the ground before the bonfire, a wicked grin carved on its face.
Half the children scream, some laugh and clap ...

As the children collected together for the ghost stories, Calista smiles softly. With everything in order, she became suddenly very tired. While everyone was intrigued, she shifted into the night and the large cat disappeared.

Matilda listened to the story as Morticia fell asleep in her lap. Matilda watched the scenes play out in the fire and looked back between Aunt Agatha and the flames. It was a story none the less and though it was sort of creepy, she didn't scream. She clapped her hands as the story finished.
"How did she live with her head not really attached except for a ribbon? Was it magic?" Of course Matilda had to pick the story apart to understand it, though it could just be a tale to tell.

Agatha laughed at Matilda's enquiries.
"Oh course it was magic, lass. Some of the most powerful magics involve talismans of some sort. Stories like this are to remind us of that, and the consequences of ignoring limitations of our magic."
She nods to Matilda, and winks, slyly showing the girl a black band around her own neck by pulling down the edge of her scarf. Then she looks around the other campers.
"Do we want another story? Or fireworks then bed?"

Matilda looked up in amazement as she saw a ribbon like in the story. "OO!! Can you teach me magic also?!" She was excited and then dropped her voice.
Matilda looked around and several kids were starting to slip off into sleep in their spots. She looked up at Aunt Agatha. "I think fireworks? Maybe something to wake everyone and then bed?" She whispered over the sleeping kids. At least half of them had dozed off.
"Why is everyone sleeping anyway?" She giggled as Morticia mewed and went and found Gomez under Aunt Agatha's rocker and curled up next to him falling back asleep. "The kittens are tired also."

Agatha smiled, patted Matilda on the shoulder.
"I think, far too quickly than anyone can imagine, you will grow into an amazing young witch, Matilda. You have curiosity, and passion, and you think about your world. But I want you to remember something, and this is very important ... magic cannot do everything, it cannot fix everything, and there are some thing which it should not be used for. These are things you will learn as you grow. I am happy to teach you about magic, but without your wand - which you will not get until you go to school - you cannot *do* magic yourself. We need our wands. That is our limitation for our power. Now ... fireworks, you say? Do you have any preferred colours or shapes?"
She pulls out her wand. The wood is pale and finely carved. She flicks the tip, and sparks of light trail out of it and up into the night sky, hardly visible yet, but they keep going and going, like a river of pinpricks of light ... whatever is coming, it's going to be good ...

Kiami chuckles lightly as Matilda suddenly, playfully bumps into her shoulder, she scoots over, giving her more room and smiles brightly at her. "I can't wait to see what you drew! I bet they are all amazing." Kiami looks around at all the children gathered at the fire, wondering how the few that had started dozing off could already be so tired, Kiami herself was full of energy and didn't want the night to end but she knew once the fireworks happened, she would be sent off to bed.
When Matilda tapped her arm to get her attention, she followed the girls gaze, and stifled a laugh at the boy who had a marshmellow half in his mouth as he slept. "You should draw a picture of that Matilda" She whispered to her friend. Morticia mewed half on Kiami's lap and half on Matilda's arm, Kiami grinned ands scratched the kitten gently behind her ears. "Your kitten is an attention seeker Matilda."
Suddenly her eyes caught Aunt Agatha, circling around the group and the fire, Kiami was intranced by the gentle sound of her voice, and found herself intranced in the story as images flittered in and out of the fire before her. A silent tear trickled down her cheek, though she couldn't understand why, she felt a deep pain for the woman in the story. what kind of magic would make a woman loose her head? Why hadn't her husband left the black ribbon be? her thoughts tumbled around her head for a brief moment, before she shook herself and dispelled them, catching the conversation between Matilda and Agatha, in the middle.
"Why do you say we have to have our wands to do magic Aunt Agatha?" The girl half whispered so as not to disturb the sleeping children around her. "When I was growing up, my mom did magic all the time without her wand. Why can't we do the samething?" Kiami had seen her mother do magic many times as a child without her wand, and she really wanted to know why all the adults here would say wands had to be present, her mother had never fully explained this to Kiami, instead telling her she would figure it out when she was older.
The conversation switched to the next activity, Kiami shrugged, maybe Agatha didn't quite know the answer herself, or maybe she thought it would be better to give an explanation when there weren't children dozing in and out of sleep around them, Kiami didn't much mind either way, and it didn't take long for her to push the thoughts aside, as fireworks began to erupt in the sky above the girls, her gaze glued to the star riddled sky, as colors of all sorts expanded and dissipated Kiami let out a long content sigh, happy to be happy and found herself leaning on to Matilda's shoulder as she quietly watched the display above them.

Fireworks erupted in the sky, worthy of any witch or wizard. The climax was the dragon, chasing a couple of older boys who'd thought to try and slay it with sticks from the bonfire.
Then it was bedtime, with the promise of another day to come.
