Professor Ria stood at the bottom of the stairs to the Dungeons. She was waiting near Professor's Kestral's office door for Dmitry Wolfbauer. He had an uneasy feeling about the summer to come and she had sent Mary an owl earlier in the week in regards to the situation, though it wasn't nearly enough information. She hoped that Mary wouldn't feel as though she was impending on her personal life outside of the school. The student had an honest concern and Aisha felt that it was needed to ease the child. She knew that Mary wouldn't harm this friend of his but hopefully it would put his mind at ease. She leaned against the wall and waited patiently, Dmitry wasn't due for another ten minutes or so. She was always early, habit of hers. As she waited she went over in her head the vents over the last few days. She needed to get the thoughts in order. @larry morte

Dmitry came walking out of the Slyterin Common room, Dressed in his usual blue jeans, highly polished dragon hide boots, form fitting white t-shirt, black leather vest and his wand at his side it's familiar hard leather holster. Checking his watch he saw the it was about time he should be heading up to Professors Kestral's office. He head off down the dungeon steps that led up the corridor where the professor's office was, his boots echoing the whole way.
As he ascended the stairs and rounded the corner he spotted Professor Ria standing out side the door. "Guten Abend Professor [good evening Professor]"

"Good evening Mr. Wolfbauer." Professor Ria nodded her head at the young man as he rounded the corner and she turned to knock on Professor Kestral's door. "Just be calm dear." Aisha turned and looked over her shoulder at the young man standing there behind her.

Mary looked at th clock in the wall. They would be here shortly. She fussed around the room, laying out teapot and cups, setting the kettle to boil on the hearth. She looked, and realised she would need a third chair, and lifted one from the corner with one hand while she set a jug of milk on the tea tray with her other hand.
Everything was set just right. The room was completely normal ... except for the shadows. She couldn't do much about them.
She jumped when the knock came at her door, and moved quickly to open it.
Just a crack at first, peering out at her guests. She smiled, then opened the door wider. She's wearing her usual black dress, without her professor's robes. Her hair is loose.
"Welcome, Aisha. Welcome, Mr Wolfbauer. Please, do come in!"
She stepped back to let them in, closing the door behind them.
Professor Kestrel's office isn't what one might expect of a vampire. It's comfortable, homey, old fashioned and neat. Like an old English home. There's a fireplace with three armchairs facing in front of it, a desk in the corner, lots of bookshelves filled with books, and trinkets from all sorts of places and times.
But it's the shadows that are different here. They seem alive, and darker than anywhere else in the castle, almost solid.

Smiling at Mary she followed her into the room. "Thank you for having us this evening Professor. Always lovely to visit your office." She made her way past the opening of the door to allow Dmitry to enter as well. Aisha took a seat near the fire, the one had the last time she was here, she really did enjoy this office. She might have to make changes to her's next year she thought. "Mr. Wolfbauer had some concerns about the summer with a friend of his, that he said would be staying with you. I offered reassurance and the chance to come with me to speak with you in regards to the matter. He seems unsure about the situation."
She turned to look at the young man. "Mr. Wolfbauer please speak freely. Professor Kestral is a good woman. You don't need to worry." She offered him a small smile as she waited.

Mart smiles, waves off Aisha's praise.
"Pure semantics aside, it has been centuries since I have been a good woman!" And she laughs gently. "But I'm no horror movie monster, either. Despite my love of shadows and darkness."
She moves to pour tea, inviting Dmitry to take the centre chair, which is placed slightly closer to the one Aisha sits in. Mary takes the one opposite the other Professor.
"What concerns do you have, Mr Wolfbauer? Is it about Miss Garcia staying with me for the summer?"

Dmitry stepped in to the Professor's office. he had been here earlier this year after his duel with Professor Adamson. And much like before it was comforting, elegant and reminiscent of era long since past. Taking his seat next to Professor Ria he looked to Professor Kestral, his face now showing the slightest sign of embarrassment as the scar on his cheek grew slightly whiter. "well, this is rather embarrassing to admit but, Yes this is about Lilianna staying with you this summer. I'm afraid some teachings are far easier to forget then others." He shifts slightly in his chair. "At Durmstrang it is taught from the first year forward that vampires, like Werewolfs, are not to be given much in the line of trust and if at all possible to be avoided or," he clears his throat, "dealt with. We are told that A vampire is not trustworthy, that anyone or any 'thing' willing to go on living by feeding off the lives of others, manipulating those around them so long as they are useful are not worthy of life. Many At the school would of cures love to taste the power and immortality that comes with the 'vampiric infection', as it's called, However the means by which that immortality and power is gained, that is wrong. It's been said that the former Headmaster Karkarof, a death eater, actually had a revers view about the species. That this kind of thinking, by any means necessary, was subtly taught. That manipulating those around you to your benefit was acceptably practiced. That the use and even loss of life was merely a byproduct of ones end game." he shook his head in obvious discussed of the ideals he was talking about.
"but that when he left the ways of the school changed. No longer was personal gain and glory the ideology of a DI student, rather to reach the top with those around you as allies not slaves, tools, or objects. You made got to where you were going by being hosted on the shoulders of those around you not by stepping on their backs." he pauses a moment. "we are told that vampires are the living definition of a sociopath."
He sits back in his chair, his normal proud, confident posture now looks almost defeated. After having spoken out loud now a lot of what he was taught then, he felt even more wrong about it. He felt angry mostly at him self for ever thinking this about the professor in the first place, Disappointed that he hadn't approached this issue sooner, and like a failure for having not done so in the first place. After all the times Lili had tried braking him out of his old habits, for him to still think like this, to feel like this about a professor, vampire or not.

Mary listens to Dmitry. She nods a little as he's talking, her expression neutral. When he finishes, she sits back in her chair, and rests her chin on her steepled fingers, looking at him.
"Well, as much as I hate to admit it, your old teacher has hit the nail right on the head. As a society, as a generalisation of my kind, he is completely correct."
She lets her admisssion sink in.
"But, like all generalisations, there are exceptions."
She reaches down to the rosary she wears about her neck, grasping it lightly, letting her fingers run over the figure of a man on a cross. She looks down at it, and up again to Dmitry.
"I am everything you have just said. I feed on people, most of whom are unwilling, some of whom do not recover. I manipulate people to my own ends. I play games with mortals, sometimes, considering them little more than pieces on a board. I play politics with my own kind. I wage wars over ideology, over faith, over history."
Mary pauses.
"But, show me a human society that does not do these things. We are feared because we are open about what we are, and in that mankind reflects all of his own worst qualities, and says 'There, that is what we should hate' rather than hating themselves."
She looks from Dmitry to Aisha, then back again.
"But ... we ... at least those of us within the Sabbat ... we have honour, of a sort. We have paths we follow, rules we live by. My word is my bond. Were I not trusted to keep my word, I would not be here, teaching children. I gave my word to Headmistress MacGonagal, to the Minister of Magic, to every student in this school that they were safe in my presence. And I have faifully kept that oath. And to Liliana, and you, should you accept my offer, I give a similar oath ... that I will do my best to keep you safe in my world, and in yours."

Aisha simply faded into the background, she was simply there to support the young man with his troubles. She listened with her own curiosity of course and she could see the similarities between the two, humans and vampires. What she, Mary had said seemed to be correct to Aisha. She lifted used her wand to bring the tea about that Mary had placed over the fire earlier and made them all a cup, she knew Mary would drink but she would hold the warmth. She gave Dmitry a cup as well and looked to him and motioned for him to take a sip before responding. Then she sat back with her own cup and waited for him to process what was said.

"Generalsations, yes it is easy to take a stance form a broad stand point. I my self have faced a little of that here and ther being formally of Durmstrang." Everything the Professor said made sense. How could he have continued thinking the way he did. "Can you tell me more about your self. Perhaps my misgivings are like most fears and misunderstandings, born of fear and lack of understanding about certain subject matter."

Mary smiles as Dmitry takes in her words, and she can see the beginnings of a change in his way of thinking already. There was a long way to go yet, but everything needed a beginning.
"Well, I can tell you I was a witch once. I attended Hogwarts just as you do now, and was in Slytherin house just like yourself. I graduated, married, had a family, watched them grow and prosper. Then I went on my own adventures."
She picks up a teacup and warms her hands.
"But, I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear. Let us start from when I reintroduced myself to the wizarding world. It was during the second war with Voldemort. Myself and my pack chose to join the alliance against the dark lord. We fought in London against the Dearh Eaters, protecting Muggles and Squibs from the death squads. Afterwards, we became part of the accord between vampires and wizards, sharing and supporting each other's secrecy. I made friends, sought out family, descendants of my children. After a time, my pack and I separated, and I came to teach here."
She looks at him.
"Do you have any specific questions?"

Aisha listened to the two as they spoke back and forth and she had a sudden thought and question come to mind. She took a sip of tea to allow Mary the time to finish speaking.
"Question if you don't mind. Did you find your family line? Are they doing well for themselves? Do they know you are alive, well here anyway?"
She wondered what her family would say, did they know? Did they not? If they did, did they accept her or reject her? Does she feel for them? Aisha wasn't sure Mary had the actual feelings like humans did but wondered if they felt something? At least for Dmitry's sake it would make her seem less villainous to him.
"Do you feel for them? In your own way? Is that why you saught them out?" She wanted to make Mary seem more human in Dmitry's it could help him she thought.

Mary looks at Aisha.
"I've found a great many of them, actually, each one Ive reached out to help where needed. Some I have introduced myself to, many I haven't, not all would be accepting of who and what I am now. It has been centuries since I was mortal, any blood tie I have is seriously diluted by now." She grins.
"Though there are a few I'm watching closely right now. Who they are should, probably remain confidential."
Mary keeps her focus on Dmitry, trying to read his mind by reading his facial expression.

He sat up a little straighter his posture showing signs that he was easying up a bit. The way she spoke made him feel that she took his ignorance for a chance to teach the true signs of a good teacher, which he could always respect.
He took a sip of his tea he and almost forgetting about it. "You talk about packs and membership and belonging. Is the a wide spread structure? Or are there different...groups?"

"Ahh, now we get to politics and religion." She smiles broadly. "Which, sadly, are far more impolite topics within my society than in the mainstream. There are two main ... sects ... and many smaller ones ... each with their own beliefs and traditions. My sect, one of the larger, know as the Sabbat tot house outside or Sword of Caine to those inside, believes in the pack structure. Packs are tightly knit small groups that trust each other with their lives, and work as a team. We fight together, live together, celebrate together, hunt together. My pack, known as Last Rites, disbanded when I came here to teach, but I am happy to say we are reforming, and if you come and stay this summer you will get to meet the others."
She seems happy by that thought.

Aisha listened to Mary speak. "It seems a lot like a human society structure with some differences obviously."
She sipped her tea again. "I have a spare room and offered the young man a place as well if he didn't feel comfortable enough to be there. I am not so far that he couldn't come visit his friend. Though I've yet to hear if he asked his parents on either matter."
She smiled softly looking from Mary to Dmitry as well.

He did have a couple options open to him at this point and either one would still offer him access to Lili and Dristan. "Professor Ria I do appreciate the offer but I believe the only way I'm going to grow beyond my current mind set is to spend time with Professor Kestral. Although would it be possible to keep your invite open as a secondary option should I feel overwhelmed at any point?" Taking another sip from his tea that had grown slightly cold. He casually took his wand out gave it a flick at the cup and slight bubble, almost fizz like, his tea was again steaming.
"Professor Kestral, What can I expect to see this summer, is there anything I should prepare for? The most time I've spend in proximity to a vampire is when I'm here at the school and the one other occasion I had come down here to your office."

Mary steeples her fingers again, and appears to think ...
"I will be honest with you, Dmitry. Any less would be to do you a disservice. My pack are reuniting. We are, and always have been, very close. There is a certain ... sensuality in our interactions. We will not be hiding who and what we are inside the house. You will, if you wish, witness our blood rituals, and learn about our society ... as we have a neonate to teach, and Liliana has expressed an interest to learn more. If you are at all squeamish ... perhaps Professor Ria's offer might suit you best. But I can promise ... none of us will touch you without your consent, and we will do our best to protect you from any outward interference should it arise. That is to say, should any of our enemies come calling. It is unlikely, but always possible."
Her hands move to the elaborate rosary that hangs around her neck, it's beads glisten like dark blood drops against the blackness of her dress, the realistic crucifix a gleaming silver in the firelight. Clearly it has been long handled, well loved.

Aisha sipped her tea looking between the two of them as they spoke. She understood what each was saying and waited patiently before saying anything herself.
"I think if at any point either you or Lilana need a break you are both welcome to come over. I understand that new things can be overwhelming. My offer will stay open if either of you want to come out even for just they day while they sleep during it." She smiled softly. "Though learning about them can't hurt either. It would open your mind up to their way of life. Other than drinking blood of course." She chuckled softly.
She looked at Mary and offered a sly wink and then back to Dmitry. "I think this was a good first step for you Mr. Wolfbauer." She wondered if she would get a chance over the summer to see anything with the vampire pack that was now living here. She had here own reasons of course but she would leave that out for now. Maybe over the summer during a night time tea her and Mary could have a discussion further along those lines.
Sipping her tea she awaited Dmitry's response.
