The Lady Winifred Quinn McGriffin, of the Noble and Most Ancient House of McGriffin
Cordially Invites You To A Grand Convocation on Midsummer's Night
To my esteemed colleagues, my dear students and all other inhabitants of Hogwarts Castle, I admit that I am saddened to leave this place for the summer when I have but scarcely arrived. In my haste to ensure Professor Winterbotham's lessons were completed and her students prepared for their exams, I have not spent much time making your varied acquaintances, and this I regret.
But luck! On Midsummer's Night (20th of June) this year, there will be a convergence of astral powers over Ireland. This convergence has a ten year cycle between zeniths, and the previous zenith was on the Midsummer of ten years ago, so it is ripe for recurrence. This convergence holds a special place in the history of House McGriffin, as paired with its recurrence is an ancient ritual of plenty devised by my ancestors. All those who participate in the Midsummer's Feast on the night of the convergence will be thus blessed: "For a period of not longer than ten years from this night, thine rivers shan't run dry, thine coffers shan't be emptied by war nor poverty, and the fruits of thine labour shan't be stricken by blight." For centuries before the Statute of Secrecy, the serfs and elves who lived on or nearby to our land took part in our feasts and enjoyed these blessings immensely. The ritual and feast are to be held at the stone circle of McGriffin manor, as they have been since those elder times.
Convergences and ancient rituals of this magnitude are a rare treat of astral magic, for those true academics among you, but if you choose to accept this invitation, I hope you will also see the blessing as a token of gratitude from myself and my House to you.
All students of age seventeen or older are invited as adults. Pursuant to the Ministry of Magic's Decree For the Reasonable Restriction of Rituals and Blasphemies of 1722, all students of age sixteen or younger must receive permission from their legal guardian(s) to attend, and must be accompanied by a capable chaperone who is not in any way under the employ of the hosting Noble House (House McGriffin). All those invited are welcome to bring one guest, not including spouses, close family or chaperones.
RSVP is not necessary unless you believe yourself to be covered under the Decree For the Reasonable Restriction of Rituals and Blasphemies. If you wish to attend, but require transportation to Belfast and the manor, include that request in an RSVP, and I will provide such.
