It really wasn't a journal. It was one of those cardboard folders, rather non-descript, apart from the fact someone had written 'Read me' on it with a thick, black marker. It contained a collection of photographs, newspaper clippings, calling cards and notes. On the inside, someone had penned a note:
"You have forgotten, which is fine. It is not the first time and I fear it will not be the last. I'm not sure whether 'they' make you forget, or it is merely a self-defence mechanism of your mind. Either way, this folder contains the results of your investgations so far and it will have you up-to-date again in no time.
The occult occurences are more than just coincidental glitches. In fact, I have suspicions they are actively pursued by individuals, working alone or perhaps organised in troupes. The proof is all around you. Look for the clues. You will find them in your peripheral sight. I know this sounds insane at first, but look around. You will soon find these words to be true again. After all, you have forgotten why you wrote them."
There was a calling card inside, for a bookstore specialized in ancient tomes. It came with a note attached to it.
"I have found the prorietor, a certain mr. Dickens, to be wearing a pendant with the occult sigil on it that has caused the first bout of memory loss I ever suffered. While I am still uncertain about its' significance (is it the mark of membership of some occult group? Is it something more?), I am sure this individual knows much more about it, even although he acts all innocently.
In his presence, a certain mrs. Harrow has been seen. The two clearly know each other, although it is not clear yet whether she too is involved in whatever occult business mr. Dickens is conducting. They are both somehow connected to a missing persons case in the early weeks fo May, 2017 though. More investigation is needed."
