The front desk at the Miskatonic University library 2:00pm 24th April 2017.
Matilda always read the paper at work when it was quiet and today was no different. The odd student would come in and ask for help in finding a book. Today it was mostly geology students wanting books and journals, something about rock formations she assumed. She made polite chat with one freshman
“Nice badge there. Why a bat through?” The freshman wondered
Matilda could not say it was a badge for her God, this freshman was too naive, so Matilda looked at her and just replied “I love bats and believe they should be protected”
The freshman just stared at her blankly before Matilda coldly asked “Can I help you at all?” the freshman just mumbled something and walked to the history section. She swears she saw the freshman move a little quicker from her. She did not think much of it.
Matilda carried on reading the local paper. The same old stories and pictures she thinks to herself. She is about to put it back when a story catches her eye Hillford wife still missing
Well this looks interesting she thought as she read it. The last part was of interest to her. They wanted volunteers to meet at 15:00 at the police department today. She checked the time before making an announcement " The library will still be open but there will be no librarian on duty. She knew she might get in trouble for leaving early before remembering that a student assistant will be somewhere,but does not have the knowledge that she has "They better not touch the Necronomicon. These fools would not be able to handle it" she says to herself before locating it and locking it away. Only she and the student assistant had the key to unlock it.
She packed her bag of papers soon after and made her way to the police department.
