The road to Hillford was long and quite boring with much scenery from the many bazillion trees that lined the sides of the rugged roads. They were one lane roads that were quite narrow, with signs specifically stating that there was no through way from this valley across the mountains; very much a wilderness location in the mountain's foothills.
The trip itself would take quite some time to get there, an hour at the least, and the rental car was only decent for the lot of them to climb in. The officers would hand Leila the keys, but the driver would be entirely up to them to decide.
The town itself was a kitchy mountain tourist trap with cabins lining side roads that seemed to dip off the sides of the mountain; most of the buildings were closed off except for a gift shop, gas station and a breakfast (tea room type) cafe. The building itself looked like it had been there for ages, by some miracle it appeared to be open to the public. In the town were various buildings, for instance the pub which was boarded up but had a 'under new ownership' sign hanging in the window.
The road continued on, the directions on the map only said 'the house at the end of the lane'. There was no end in sight from the middle of the town, they would have to drive even further out into the woods.

Jimmy stared out of the windshield as the car bumped along the road, occasionally throwing the group against one another. The mountain loomed in the distance and it struck him just how vast the Seven Sisters really was. He'd been in Arkham for most his adult life past the mountain range on countless occasions but had never felt the urge to explore them. Despite relishing the opportunity to work a case for APD, he couldn't help but be reminded of the past. A tension locked in his chest and he could feel himself going a little vacant as memories began to creep to the forefront of his mind.
Fumbling in his jacket pocket he took out a small pill pot, removed a tablet and necked it dry, before sitting back and closing his eyes. Willing the past to stay just that. The past. He sure hoped the ride would be over soon.

The Officer drove a bit slower through the village, eyeing all of the closed shops, "Anyone else notice how dead it is this season? It's spring, most of the villages are starting to become busy readying for the summer season." The car moved along the road and pulled to a stop in front of the breakfast shop, "The house is supposed to be further down the road, anyone need to stop or do we all want to keep driving?" The only way was up from here, the mountainous road twisted off and up a hill in the distance.

Caleb was lost in thought during the drive through the mountains. Not long ago he had been chasing prey through these very hills. His thoughts wandered to how Jimmy had reacted to his joke, maybe the Americans didn't get his sense of humor. Well he would have to try and make amends for that.
He turns to face Jimmy and taps him on the shoulder, 'Hey fella, I think maybe you ain't to keen on me! Lets start again, my names Caleb Molloy and we'll be working together. So for the interest of personal safety we should probably try and be friendly!' he puts his hand out for a hand shake, 'What you say fella?'

Jimmy looks at Caleb wearily.
"I have very little time for vendettas Mr Malloy and in truth, I overreacted somewhat, and for that, I apologise."
He take's Caleb's hand and gives it a shake as he nods solemnly. An awkward silence fell in that instant and Jimmy momentarily continued to stare out of the window as Officer Lee drove slowly on.
"Mr Malloy, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly is it that you do when you're not helping the police with their investigations?"

She doesn't hear any requests to stop so she continues to drive the car through the woods for at least 1 mile out of town and up the mountain before turning into the house with the gravel path. She turns into the drive way and ahead there is already two cars parked outside the house.
"Looks like we already have people waiting on us boys." She motions out the window and turns off the car. She closes the door behind her and heads over to those waiting outside the out.
She says before she climbs out of the car, "You two can stay and chat if you like, but I need to get this house unlocked so everyone can start getting a good look around."

Caleb tilts his hat back on his head and smiles, 'Well now, I'm a security consultant and in my spare time I like to box.' he scratches his head and toys with an unlit cigarette.
He turns his attention to Officer Simon as she speaks,
'It is quiet, thats for sure. Maybe the people are staying off the streets given whats happened recently? I know that if I wasn't with two of the finest folks ive ever had the pleasure of. I'd not brave these lonely streets.'
Caleb exits the car as Officer Simon mentions opening the house. Staying close to her he listens and spots for hidden people or creatures. His hand resting on the hilt of his knife.

"Spare time is not something I like to have lots of. I'm a researcher by trade. Most of my work is done up at the university, but recently I've branched out a little. I'd like to tell you I'm a private investigator, but truth be told I'm more of a stalker of philandering husbands. I was sorta hoping that this [he gestures outside] might improve my case files a little."
He watches Officer Simon walk up the gravel driveway.
"You ever get the feeling that if this were a crime show we'd be the stoogey sidekicks? That Officer Simon is some piece of work. C'mon let's get out of here."
Without waiting for a response he climbs out of the car and follows in the cop's footsteps.

Matilda sat in her car for a few moments before taking out one cd and replacing it with another before pressing play on the in car cd player. She feels the sun beating down, thankfully it is light out. She did not fancy making the drive home in the dark after the events in the house. She was still a little bit scared and the darkness would not help at all.
During the drive through the village and mountains back to Arkham, there was only two things on her mind. The Green Man that attacked in the garden and when Nyarlathotep wanted her to find more followers. “How does he expects me to find more worshipers?” she says to herself. She opens a window to get some air into the car. “I'll do it of course. I'll do anything for him and he knows that” she continued to herself.
The rest of the drive home is a blur as she makes it back behind the bridal boutique and parked the car up.

Dickens avantually made it back to his car, after dealing with the police, medics, and whatnot. He sighed with relief as he put his hand on his cane. Never again would he go anywhere without it, or some other weapon. Caleb had nearly died because all he'd had was a stick.
The drive back to town was quiet. He had a lot to think about. What they'd seem and fought, it had devoured the officer. Was it some aspect of an elder god, or some other creature? He needed to do some research.
Lets just get home first, Arthur. Stay on the road, watch for other cars, one thing at a time ....
