Rough Beginnings...(Matilda, Dristan, Teagan)

Teagan looks to Matilda, reassuring her as she climbs off the bed and walks to the door. She's hesitant at first. "How do we know...." She whispers into the crack of the door. "That you have been been taken over by some other spirit..."

It was a genuine question, though part of her knew it was truly him. Better safe then sorry i guess...

Teagan let a smile tug at her lips just a moment hearing his words, indeed her hand was fiddling with the bauble around her neck and she turned to look at Matilda. The next set of words made her shake her head just slightly before carefully unlocking the door and pulling it open. Her hazel eyes watched him before she stepped back and allowed Dristan into the Room and shutting the door once he had come into the room.

Dristan was quiet for a moment and looked to Teagan with a sombering look for a moment. Then his gaze turned to Matilda and he watched her with a smile on his face and a light in his eyes watching her with the squirrels and walked over to Matilda and squatted down now. "Matilda......On the other side of the door your friends brought a friend of mine to help you." His voice seemed somewhat sad because he knew deep in his mind that he would probably have to start all over with Matilda again.

"You have my promise he is not here to take you from us and you will still be coming home with me and Ms. T. He is going to take away your nightmares. Make them.....vanish." He continued. "Ms. T and I will be right here when he comes in and I promise that he will not hurt you at all. He....he is going to do a very special trick that is going to take those nightmares away okay so you never have to deal with them ever again."

Dristan looked to Teagan now still squatted with a look to trust him but at the same time the sadness showing as if he was losing something dear to him. He stood up now and walked over to Teagan and whispered in her ear. "He is going to erase the memories of the orphanage and the attack and she will not remember them at all. And......and she will not remember me because I am tied to those memories so when she comes around....." he had to pause and wipe a tear from his eye and whispered in Teagan's ear again.

"We will have to play it off that we brought her here to do the foster paperwork with Pia and....and she will have to know me all over again." He leaned back with his head lowered wiping another tear so that Matilda would not see his tears. Turning he had a big smile on his face again. "May I bring in my friend Benny to see you and help you?"

Matilda's face went somber again as she looked down at her friends. "Do I have to tell him what happened? I kind of figured police would come eventually. I don't even know how I got from there to there though." She didn't want to look up. "How do you make memories, nightmares go away? Like I tried to not think about it this morning and I was wide awake when I saw.." Her voice broke again. "Sarah..." She had a tear drip down her cheek as she took another breathe. "If you think he will help. I guess I don't have a choice either way." She sighed heavily.

Benny nods and twists his wand dexterously through his fingers as he gets up and heads for the room. Pia blinks and sits, watching the room silently.

Once inside, he nods his head to Teagan to acknowledge her and then looks down at Matilda. "Hmm...small thing aren't ya?" Says the nearly six foot tall man who is handling a weird looking stick through his fingers as if it were a coin. With a breath, he goes down to one knee, grabbing the stick and hanging it between two fingers. "I see your little friends found you..." he says, gesturing towards the squirrels who were now curled up with her. "Can you tell me your name?"

Matilda sat there listening to Dristan as he cupped her face and then nodded her head in response to keeping Sarah. A tiny curve in her lips hinting towards a smile that never shows at the secret he would keep for her. She watched as he stood and went to the door, calling the man Benny to them. She held her breathe for what seemed like an eternity as the man came into view and than towards her. She looked down at the squirrels he mentioned. "I feed them in the mornings at...well...did..when.." She looked down at the furry little balls in her arms unable to finish the sentence. "Matilda...Matilda Wilson." She looked back up to him. He was the only one here who sounded like she did. He didn't have a funny accent about him at all. "Are you from here? You sound like you are from New York like me."

Matilda smiled softly towards Benny, she knew about the book, she used to own the book herself. She never saw the movie though and had not even heard of the play. "I haven't seen the movie before or heard of the play, but my first foster mother gave me a book that was called Matilda. She was magical. I really liked the book. Sometimes I even believe it was written about me." She knew it wasn't real though it was just a silly book. She was watching his eyes as he spoke. "Um, well. Will I not remember my friend Sarah? She was the only girl that...that was sort of nice to me. I would like to remember them. Even if they weren't all nice to me. But um I would like to never remember Ms. K again. She.....she was the one....who...who ordered the men..." Tears were falling down again as the memory flooded her once more, the knives dripping with blood, the headless bodies. Her small body started to shake again as she saw it all happening in front of her. "They...I think...they wanted to kill me too...I don't even know why. I never hurt anyone before Mr. Benny" She was a sobbing mess of a small child again holding onto the squirrels hoping they would bring her some sort of joy again.

Matilda looked up in amazement. "You're a magician? That was awesome. Where did you have the box hiding at though?" She didn't really think it was real magic, she had seen shows on the tv before and knew if she was focused she could find the hiding spots. She took a few tissues from the box. "Thank you." She blew her nose and it was loud, wet and messy. She grabbed a few more to clean the mess and with afresh one wiped her eyes. "Okay...I think I am ready..."She hugged the squirrels back watching out of her big hazel eyes.

Matilda watched in awe as he put the stick to her head and pulled something out. She saw the shinny sliver of silver and was shocked as he put it into a a tiny little bottle. "So it is done now? I won't have nightmares? I can still remember though. I know what happened." She was slightly confused about what happened. Was he really magic? How did he make a copy of her memory? How could he do something like that and put it into a bottle? "Like, you are real magic aren't you?!" She almost squealed with the connection. She didn't think real magic was actually like real but it was wasn't it? She opened her hand to take the bottle from him. "Will I know what is in the bottle? I mean, when I am older? I still remember though." She looked from him to Teagan and Dristan, still really confused as if it worked or not.

Matilda looked at her Chip and Dale and wondered if they really did only listen to her. That was a pleasant thought. She gave them both gentle hugs and whispered to them both. "Thank you for coming to see me but you have to go back to your homes. Your families will miss you." She let them go and watched as they scuttled away. "Will they be safe?" She looked up to Benny as he was fiddling with his necklace of some sort. She watched as her little vial went from his hand onto the rope, almost made just for it. She thought it was pretty cool that he could do real magic. She couldn't wait until this was over so she could ask him about it. Maybe she could learn also? Wouldn't it e cool to know real magic and be able to help the animals and the..the monsters that..that haunted her.

Matilda wondered if it would hurt. What he was going to do to her. She watched as Benny turned toward Dristan, wondering what they were talking about. When he turned back to her, she listened. "Um. Okay." She stood up and took his hand following where he went just before slipping out of the room though, she grabbed a hold of to Ms T and gripped her tightly, hoping her hand wouldn't slip and that she would follow her where they were going.

Teagan stayed silent watching this all take place. She wasn't sure she was ready to take on this role, to take on having to pretend that the things in the last 12 or so hours hadn't occured. She looked to Dristan a moment as the man explained he was copying the memory and putting it into a bottle for later. She wasn't exactly sure how she felt about it. Her eyes closed in thought as she took a deep breath and just waited. She leaned into his kiss, the look he gave saying it all.

This was going to suck....

She was in her own thoughts when Matilda gripped her hand and pulled her along out of the bedroom. 

Matilda nodded her head unsure slightly if she wanted to let go of Teagan. Benny told them it would be just them. She didn't know if she could really trust him. What if he was one of them? Suddenly she freaked out and ran from him and hid behind Teagan. "What....I don't want to be alone with you." Once more she was in tears, shaking behind Teagan. Benny's wand turned into a blood soaked knife and she screamed again. "He's going to kill me!!"

Matilda looked at Teagan and didn't want to let go, she was afraid. She wanted to be strong but she didn't know how to be in that moment. When Teagan got down on her knees in front of her and held out her pinky, the girl looked over her shoulder again and saw the blood stained knife change back into the wooden stick it had always been. She still shook but nodded her head anyway. "Pinky promise" She held up her pinky and locked it with Ms T's before letting go and turning back towards Benny. "I guess...I am ready." She took a deep breathe her tears drying stained to her cheeks as she walked to him.
