Calista woke up after a long night out asleep, her head splitting and the light from one lone lantern driving her to close her eyes and groan. Marlon was there at her side right away as she tried to sit up. It was then that she shifted towards the back of the cot away from him, looking around wildly. "Who are YOU? WHERE AM I?!" She screeched, pulling the blanket up over her legs and her chin. Marlon looked confused and went to touch her arm reassuredly. Miss Redthistle, it's me, Marlon. You're assistant. Calista's green eyes were wild as she looked at Marlon, slight fuzzy memories coming back to her. Once her eyes focused she took a deep breath and realized who it was in the tent with her. It was a long fitful night, mostly filled with dreams that she couldn't remember, but she felt the lasting effects of the anxiety and fear they had caused.
"Has everything calmed down back home?" She asked, only remembering faces but not names. People and the estate. That is what she remembered. Swallowing, she reached up and felt the bandage on the side of her forehead. The shot had really rung her bell. Badly. At least the ringing in her ears were gone. "Who were those people I dreamt about at the estate?" She asked, her eyes wide and lacklustre.
People that you invited so as to sell the estate. Marlon said, wiping her forehead with a cool cloth. Nova was curled up at her feet, looking at her with an annoyed cat glare for waking her up from her beauty rest. Calista thought for a moment and shook her head gently so as not to increase the pounding in her head. "Why would I sell the estate? I love that place." She said, eyeing Marlon. At first the words came Marlon as strange and then he narrowed his eyes. What on earth was going on. There was movement outside of the tent and a few of the staff entered and started to pack up the supplies. They were leaving back to the estate. tThere was something up with his boss, and Marlon didn't like it.
Yes you do... Marlon said, waving at the staff to go about their business when they looked at Calista and him confused. We are going to get you home. you had a fall and hit your head while we were out camping. Clearly you need more rest.
Calista sighed and shut her yes, the pounding in her head extreme. "Yes, I suppose you are right." She said, watching the staff as they went about their jobs. Time to go home.
