--- Making Rolls for this scenario. Roll a 1d100, if you roll UNDER your skill number, you succeed. There will be times where half the number and a quarter of the number may give more details than a 'regular success'. I will handle that as the keeper so you don't need to calculate it yourself unless you want to. Or you make a roll and post the results here along with what you want to accomplish, then if I'm not online I can come back and give you more details.

You here hypnos's voice in your head, it is whispered as thus, "The desert is timeless. Man is but a wind that blows across her sand and then is gone. No wind was meant to blow forever. It would become a wind no longer."

Can I roll to see if anyone has passed through here before? Or/and if I have ever come across anything before similar to Jeremys experience with the occult?

The trail is actually a very well worn path, people do come through, there is even evidence of harvesting of the fruit from the jungle's trees.
Rolling Knowledge as it is the higher stat: 20 = Hard Success = You do know there is a world in the dreamlands, you have come across it in your studies of the occult before. But what is off is that dreamers usually already have access to manifest things in their dreams (dreaming skill), but all of you seem to have to work very hard to even try to get it to work.
Sanity: You have a phobia of reptiles until you all manage to get on a boat (better way to judge it than rounds on a board).

There are stories about random cities and rumours/tales of what has happened within the dreamlands. You pick out one particular thing that seems tied into what has been said.
Emperor Thuba Mleen was responsible for the sudden abandonment of a city named in the book as 'Bethmoora'. His mom was a priestess and oracle from a tribe that worshipped the desert before she was to be taken to be the former emperors wife. The former emperor died and Thuba Mleen took his place.

Jeremy would like to look through his book for reference to either a sleeping city or the ship 'the bird of the river'

The bird of the river is just a generic boat that trades and takes travellers to dream gates, not much else in there as it doesn't to seem to be entirely historical or meaningful to the book.
Scrolled across the top of the page are the words...
MANDAROON
A sketch in the books of exactly what you all can see from the front gate of the city, same sleeping people etc... they haven't moved in AGES making this a very. very ancient place. There is just one quote under the image.
"None may ask questions in this gate for fear they will wake up the people of the city. For when the people of this city wake, the gods will die. And when the gods die, men may dream no more."

There is a teleportation dream ability caused Vortex but it would cost 20 magic points and you've only got 24, so if you roll a hard success which is rolling a 6 or below on a 1d100 because of the complexity of this spell, if you fail you will lose those 20 points and will have to wait to get them back 1 per hour

Is there anything of the spirits of the cities in the book?
|
|
|
Post by Keeper of Darkness on Aug 29, 2017 11:30:59 GMT
It will mention that every city is known to have a spirit, whether androgynous or of a sex of its choosing. As it is a general knowledge and old history book of the dream lands it doesn't cover a lot of occult topics, only what people living in the dream lands suspected or experienced in off hand tales.
You notice other tales in the book for places on the map the river will pass...
The Idle City The Madness of Andelsprutz Poltarnees, Beholder of the Ocean In Zaccarath Cave of Hypnos

Jeremy notices a tiny red beam of light scanning vessels in the area, it also seems to hit and reflect when it just grazes Alicia when she bolts below deck. whatever it is, it's not good it seems to come from various places at the junction from the patrols
