Hello, Peeves. With the start of term in only a couple of weeks, I think we should discuss the actual guidelines for the giving and taking of House Points. In the canon, the point system is, well... We never get to see how it's supposed to work as an academic tool, because the majority of points are given for weird story-related things and Quidditch matches.
That worked fine, because Harry was the main character and most of what he did in school was weird story things and Quidditch, but shouldn't we bring the system closer to something an actual school would have? To that end, do we want them to be fair? Do we want them to be abusable by either professors or students? Do we care about Quidditch at all? Is there a written list of rules for the professors to follow when awarding or removing House Points?

There is no current written rule for giving or taking house points. It's left up to the teachers to maintain and use responsibly. If we did notice someone abusing the system then we'll communicate with them either in character with the headmistress (who would notice) or if we think it is a confused player giving too many points we'll give them a quick chat to check.
We do care about quidditch, a board can be added for it, but it is difficult to role-play.
