Matilda had been locked away in her room all weekend. Though Friday had been a decent day, Saturday turned out horrible for the young witch and she was upset with the world once more. Why did it seem everyone always left? Why was it that no one ever stayed around? Why was she the always left alone to face things? She was angry and hurt and when she finally got the chance Tuesday, she stole Teagan's bag of holding and threw a bunch of clothes and money in it.
She picked up Morticia and she walked out the front door. No one had seen her go at least to her mind and when she made it down the long driveway of the estate she took out her phone and called a cab.
The driver picked her up and took her to King's Crossing. She paid with the money she stole from Teagan's wallet and when she arrived at the station the driver left her there on the side of the road.
She took her cell phone and dropped it in the garbage can. She didn't want it anymore. She didn't want anything from anyone except for Morticia. Morticia seemed concerned and though she sat in her arms as they walked down the sidewalk, the kitten was not comfortable. It didn't take long for the girl to arrive to some sort of park.
She sat on a bench and looked around at all the families playing during the summer vacation. She sighed and put Morticia down who sat down and looked at the people. It wasn't long before the sun began to set. She didn't know what time it was and she didn't care. She needed to find a way to live alone. She was tired of it all. Why did it seem that life always give her the crap end of the deals? She wished the orphanage hadn't blown up, that she had never met these people. She wiped away the tears that stung her eyes. She would of been just fine without falling in love with a family t she thought she might finally fit into but it just seemed like they were wrapped up in their own lives to give her to much of a second glance.
She didn't know about the car accident, didn't know he had woken up, broken promises, and now he was gone and Teagan was having his babies. She only was in the way. She didn't want to be in the way anymore. She was tired of being an after thought. From now on, it was her and Morticia and she was fine with that.
She stood from the park bench as the sun began to set and she walked down into the woods. Morticia and her were going to have to find some where to sleep. It didn't take them long to find a place among the trees in the park that seemed open and comfortable enough. She pulled at a hand of cat food that she took with her and gave it to Morticia as well as puling out some crackers for her. They sat there against a tree trunk, Morticia crawling into her lap as she leaned there and closed her eyes trying to figure out their next step.

Thulile didn't know what was going on in the lives of her friend and her protege. She honestly thought that she was giving Dristan and Matilda time to themselves. They needed it as Matilda became a part of their family officially.
Currently, Thulile was in need of inspiration. So she took to wandering through the city. She'd been at it all day, with a canvas bag with a slot for her sketchbook and pencils, and then another set up for the moments Lorcan wanted to curl up inside. Otherwise the ferret rode around on her shoulders, and for a bit of time on her head.
It was becoming night as Thulile stepped into the wooded area of a park. Nighttime in a park was interesting and Thulile was wondering what inspirational things she might see... until, part way through the walk Lorcan took off.
"Lorcan! No!" Thulile called out, dashing after the ferret. He'd never done this before.
Lorcan, get back here!" Except he wasn't as he immediately started to climb up a tree... dashing after the scent of a friend the littel ferret had latched onto; Morticia.

Morticia was the first on her feet as she began to hiss at first at the sounds rushing through the brush. Her eyes and ears focused as she darted up a tree to see what was happening. Matilda stood and looked up at Morticia and she yelled at her, but then she heard another voice yelling as well.
It wasn't long before Morticia had found Lorcan and the two started to chase each other through the tree. Matilda stood there waiting for the woman to come into the brush. She knew she was going to get yelled at or reprimanded but at this point she didn't rightfully care. She wondered if Teagan had sent her to help look for her. Had they even known that she had gone? How long had they been looking? She didn't care at the moment.
Her arms crossed and her face was filled with anger as she awaited the inevitable.

When Thulile noticed the black blur she got concerned... until she realized who that black blur was. Then Thulile was was looking for Matilda, which she found. However, there was no Dristan or Teagan with her.
Thulile left the critters to run about in the tree and moved to Matilda. "Hey there, sweetie. What are you doing out here?" Thulile asked, concern clear in her voice.

Matilda looked at her. "Like you don't know!? What do you care!? Why are you looking for me? I don't want to be found and I don't want any help from anyone! Leave me alone!" She called Morticia to her and she took off into the trees, the path opening up before her.
She ran down the path and out of the park, not knowing whether or not Thulile was behind her. Morticia was trying to keep up as well and before long she took off down a side walk and made a turn down an alley.

Thulile's eyes went wide as the girl went off on her, and before Thulile could get a word out? Matilda took off. Thulile curse and took out her wand, acio'ing her ferret to her, she'd deal with the grumpy aftermath of that later. Putting Lorcan in the canvas bag for safety, Thulile took off after MAtilda, calling out to her.
"Matilda! Why are you running? I have no idea what you mean? Why would I be looking for you?" She called out, wand still in hand but making no move to use it on Matilda. Wanting the girl to stop and talk to her on her own.
"Sweetheart, please stop and talk to me."

Matilda stopped at the end of the path and turned to look at Thulile. "Why do you care? Why does anyone care?! It doesn't matter!" She huffed and sat on the bench, Morticia finally catching up to her and climbing up on the bench as well.
"I just want to go back before I knew anyone here. Before I knew magic. I don't want it anymore. I just want to go home." Tears threatened but she bite them back, she wasn't about to cry like a baby again.

Thulile was not out of shape. Still, when she caught up she was a bit out of breath. She just didn't suddenly break out into a run these days.
Walking up to the bench she sat her bag down by Matilda. Lorcan soon came out, sensing someone in distress and came over to Matilda to sniff at her and nudge his way onto her lap along with Morticia.
Thulile knelt down on the ground in front of Matilda and looked up at her. Even more worried now. "But this is your home now. Dristan... he loves you so much. All he and I ever seem to talk about is you." Thulile said with all honesty. Reaching up to touch her cheek.
"He loves all the wonderful things about you. The very same ones I see. A beautiful young girl with such life and passion inside of her. I adore you, Matilda, and the whys and hows don't matter, because that's the truth. You're like... a little sister. My very own little protege and I wouldn't trade you for the world."

"Yet Saturday this was this big huge thing that went down. He blew up at his mom, Lili, Teagan, Dmitry. I heard them all. I heard all of it. His dad had a demon come right out of his chest! Ripped his dad opened and killed him and no one told him and now! Now he is gone! He just left. Lili left, Dmitry left, his mom is gone and I don't even know what happened with Teagan. Everyone was just gone." She looked down at the ferret as he crawled into her lap. She let it stay as it curled up with Morticia.
"I haven't seen anyone since yesterday morning when everything happened. Everyone is just gone." She looked up as an owl came floating down and landed on the bench, a letter floating into her hand. She opened it.
"And see e wants to play a damn game! I don't want to play a game of where is Daddy at this time! Why can't he see that? I am not some seven year old kid that needs to play a game. No, he wants to run from everything going on around him. I couldn't run away because of the system, but here I am, running away. Why not? It seems everyone else does the same thing! So I am going to do it too and you can't take me back! I won't let you!" She was still angry as she tossed the letter and whatever was attached to it at Thulile.

"Saturday?" Thulile murmured the question softly. She tried to piece the disjointed information together into a mental picture. Trying to understand what had happened. So Thulile knelt there before Matilda, a hand resting on the girl's knee as her thumb moved in hopefully soothing circles.
Dristan got angry it seemed and yelled at just about everyone... because his father had died? A demon? ... Like Dristan's demon? And it ripped out of Dristan's dad? No one told him? Okay, that was definitely something traumatizing. but then he left?
Thulile frowned as Matilda went on. There had to be more to it all. It just didn't seem right that Dristan and everyone would abandon Matilda. Licking her lips Thulile tried to think of words to say... when the owl came. Taking it when Matilda tossed the letter and picture Thulile carefully read is and looked at the picture, then the clip. After a long quiet moment Thulile reached out to pin back a bit of Matilda's hair with the clip.
"You know, adults aren't perfect. I know people make it seem like nothing is supposed to go wrong anymroe once you become an adult, but the problems.. the mistakes? They don't ever go away. We keep learning about ourselves and the world around us. And sometimes? It all gets to be too much." Thulile said in a calm voice.
"Your daddy? He is far from perfect, just like I am and Teagan is. He was in a coma, my dear. Wakes up having missed weeks with you and everyone else. Then more weeks pass and he learned that his father died horrifically and no one thought to tell him... Now, I was sixteen when I lost my great-grandma. I was devestated. But if it had been in this same situation? MAtilda... I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same."
Thulile then held the note and picture out toward Matilda. "I think what should count right now are two... maybe three things. One? Morticia is still with you. Two? He hasn't left you completely. A part of him has to realize what he's done is wrong, but at the same time this could be what he needs and he's leaving you crumbs to find him with. And three?" Thulile then smiled softly. "I'm here and I promise I wont go anywhere until you are back where you are safe and loved. Alright?"

The butterfly clip was placed in her hair and she listened as it sang to her. She tried to stop and hold back the tears. She was so angry at the entire situation and she didn't understand half of what was going on around her. She needed to be stronger. Apparently Thulile would of done the same thing, just up and left everyone. Running away seemed to be the answer for everything hard in life. So maybe that was why her birth parents up and left. Having a kid was too hard.
She sighed. "Fine." She said under her breath. "I don't care anymore." She had come to the conclusion that she need not care anymore. That when life was too hard you ran from it all. It was just the way it was.

Thulile smiled sadly and reached up to brush the tears away from Matilda's cheeks. "No, that's not true. I've seen it, the depths of just how much you care. Never stop caring, Matilda."
Moving to sit up next to Matilda Thulile pulled the girl into a half hug. "I know they're making mistakes right now, and I'll have words for that father of yours myself. But what makes a family a real family is that you're still there when he comes crawling back to beg forgiveness. Because when you make your mistakes, and trust me my dear, you will... he will be there waiting too."
Reaching over Thulile tapped the picture. "Play his game, Matilda. Find him and then lay into him good. But don't give up on him, or the others."

Matilda half leaned into Thulile's hug. She guess she could understand to some degree. Teagan wouldn't know where she was right now and that was a mistake she would have to deal with when she finally was sent back home. She was still upset but she didn't have the energy to fight anymore. She was hungry and tired and just wanted to be back in her warm bed.
"I guess. I will." She said as she looked at the picture.

"Now, do you have your phone on you? You don't have to do it, but I should at least contact Teagan and let her know you're alright," Thulile said as she rubbed over Matilda's arm in a comforting gesture. "I can call her, then we can figure out what you're doing, yeah?"

Matilda sighed and looked down. "No, I threw it away at King's Crossing." She said quietly.
"I want to go home." She whispered softly as tears started to finally fall at her realizing the mistake she had made. She picked Morticia up off her lap and pulled her into her arms and held her close, the kitten struggled at first and then went limp letting Matilda hold her close, realizing the girl needed the comfort.

"Alright. It's ok. I'll get you home." Thulile said as she took out her wand. "I'll just retrieve it, yeah?"
Unthinking, as well as uncaring, of the consequences of such a long distance summoning Thulile waved her wand. "Accio Matilda's Cellphone." She then looked out in the general direction of Kings Cross and waited for the phone to make its way to her. It would likely take a few moments of traveling.

Matilda nodded her head as she kept a hold on Morticia. She didn't know what else to say. She just wished that people didn't leave all the time. "Why? Why does everyone leave?" She was mumbling to herself quite unaware that she was even talking out loud.
She didn't want to let her kitten go. She was the only one that ever stayed.

Thulile frowned at the words Matilda spoke, hugging the girl tighter with her one arm. Leaning over Thulile pressed a chaste kiss to the top of Matilda's head. "I'm here, aren't I? I'll make you a promise. No matter where I am, what I'm doing... if you need me I will come to you. Just send word by phone call, text, email or owl. That way if anything like this should ever happen again? You won't be alone for long." Thulile said, meaning her words. She'd grown rather attached to the girl and would make this promise and mean it.

Matilda didn't say anything as Thulile hugged her closer. She wasn't sure what to feel, she wondered what the term was for not feeling anything. Like maybe numb? She thought as she stayed where she was. Morticia jumped from her arms and seemed to go after something that was in the air.
Matilda wasn't paying attention, if she had she would of noticed it was her phone heading right for Thulile's hand. Lorcan nuzzled the girl for a moment and chattered about something but Matilda wasn't focused enough to hear him, normally she had no problem understanding animals but this wasn't a normal situation for her.

The reaction of Morticia caught Thulile's attention, preparing her for the arrival of the cellphone. Holding out her hand Thulile caught it. Didn't seem damaged much for having been lost. "Alright, my dear. I'm going to contact Teagan now." Thulile said as she turned on the phone, glad to see a little battery life left, and went into the contacts.

Matilda simply nodded her head as Thulile grabbed her phone to contact Teagan. She didn't know how long it would take her mother to get here and she knew she was going to be in a world of trouble. She had been missing since early in the morning. She sighed and stood off the bench.
She didn't walk far, just enough away that she didn't want to hear Thulile talking to Teagan. Both animals seemed to follow her the few steps away as Matilda sat in the grass and looked off in the distance.

Thulile smiled at Matilda and watched her step away before finding Teagan's number in the phone and then dialing it. Sitting on the bench Thulile waited for Teagan to answer, unsure of what she was going to say. Blunt was likely bed, right? Just come out and say she found Matilda and just... go from there.

Teagan had been frantically looking around the estate, and even outside. Even managing to make her way outside of the estate land and towards London. She wasn't sure where she was going to look except maybe the parks or some of the art places that she and Matilda had visited before. Her body language said it all as she pulled a picture from her purse asking anyone she could if they had seen her. To no avail, no one had seen the girl.
She sighed leaning against a wall in the royal parks just trying to figure out where she could have gone. Hearing her phone ring she dug through her purse hoping it was Dmitry or Elijah calling to say they had found her. Instead the caller-ID pulled up as Matilda. She quickly answered.
"Matilda!? Matilda is that you? Are you alright.." She rattled quickly not giving the person a chance to respond

Matilda sat there and watched Thulile dial her mother. She even heard her mother's voice through the phone. She sounded worried, maybe some anger? She wasn't sure as she sat against the ground and curled up. She wanted to hide away from it all. Yet she missed her also. Missed Sarah, missed Kiami, missed her normal life. Everything seemed to just go crazy since the gas leak and she didn't understand how things had moved so fast.
She wondered if she was still going back to Illvermorny also. She sighed into her legs and waited for the yelling that would come.

It was a relief to hear a panicked tone, relief for MAtilda's sake. A pessimism born of the type of families Thulile's friends back home had come from having shaped the witches' view of the world, no matter how upbeat she tended to be.
"Sorry, this isn't Matilda, but she is fine. It's Thulile. I happened upon her in a park. She's here with me now." Thulile smiled over at Matilda, worried for the girl. "She's... scared and confused. And missing you. Should I bring her to you, or do you want to come here for her?"

There was a dip in her chest at the voice over the phone until she realized who it was. "Oh! Thulile!" She rests a hand on her chest and let out held breath. "I'm so glad you found her. Dmitry, Elijah and I have been looking for her for several hours...She took what cash I had and took off."
She looks at around the park and tries to see if they are in the same park. "I'm in London right now, standing in one of the parks now. I was coming to check all of our typical spots. I can come to you if you can tell me your location..I've been so worried about her.."

Matilda huffed at Thulile. She wasn't scared! What was wrong with that woman? Matilda wasn't scared of anything or anyone! She stood and held her head up. "I AM NOT SCARED!" She crossed her arms staring hard at the woman who was her mentor in all things art. She scowled and turned to walk off.
Confused? Maybe, but not scared. She wouldn't let herself be scared of nothing! Why would Thulile say she was scared?! She was lonely sure, confused, most likely. But she was scared of living on the streets or finding a way back to the states.

Thulile looked over as Matilda yelled that she was not scared and gave a sad little smile. She knew Matilda was young yet and would likely find there were many different kinds of fears, and she would work through them and hopefully, at some point, stop denying them. For now? She was a pre-teen. Thulile began to walk after Matilda, saying back some to give MAtilda space, but keeping the girl in sight.
She gave Teagan the name of the park. "We're a little deep in at the moment, on the trails." Thulile then licked her lips a bit. "Teagan... she told me some very... well... I'm concerned. She seems to have heard things that an adult would have trouble comprehending. Let alone a no-maj raised child." Thulile said the last soft enough to hopefully Matilda wouldn't overhear.

"It doesnt surprise me. There is so much going on Thulile. I can explain everything when I get there. I'm going to take the quick way....Its faster then me trying to walk. I'll be there shortly."
She hung up the phone and looked around, stepping off the trail and shifting. In a few moments she was in the air flying towards teh park that Thulile had described. Finding her on the trail she landed a little away before shifting back and coming out onto the trail. She sees Thulile and Matilda a little ways away. "Thulile..." She whispers walking up to her. She didn't want to scare Matilda at this moment. But wanted to check in with her.

Matilda turned and looked at Thulile who was following her. "Stop stalking me!" She huffed out again. Morticia took it upon herself at that point to hiss at Thulile and even Lorcan got a swipe from the kitten as she darted off after Matilda. It was obvious the kitten had no idea what was going on, she could only feed off the emotions of her owner and right now all she wanted to do was protect the girl from whoever had her so upset.
Matilda had a the slightest malicious grin on her face as she eyed Thulile and the ferret before they turned and walked off down the trail unaware that Teagan had arrived.
