1. About Names. I have a screen name. I have a character name. How do I post with the least confusion? I read that I should not have mcsparklesmalfoykisses1214, which I understand, and respect. I have seen many posts with a full name of a character, or a screen name which could be a character name. Should I change my name for each character, or is there a better way?
2. Worlds and Games. I have seen three main worlds here, and I am curious about how much they blend. Can a vampire attend a Hogwarts Ball? Could a Muggle meet up with a werewolf? Or are the worlds meant to be more separate? Also, can I insert my character into any open story, or should I start my own and invite others to join? Or is there a more complex etiquette?
3. Starting Out Right. I have a few ideas I want to try. Should I work on these one at a time, or are multiple characters allowed? Even if it is allowed, should my time be focused on one main idea? Are we going for breadth or depth?
4. Thank You. This looks like a lot of fun, and I look forward to learning everything. I understand that many of my questions might be found elsewhere, and if you see something I NEED to read please let me know. Thank you for your time in helping me find my feet.

1. You can change display names in your profile settings. For example, my username is 'Morte' but my profile name is 'Professor Kestrel', because that's my character, so that's how my posts should show up. No every user has a character yet, so some people haven't made this distinction yet. I hope that helps?
2. This is more difficult. There are game areas that are common, like the muggle world areas, and anyone can meet anyone there. If you want to be a vampire or fairy and interact with the wizard if world, for example, you need ties to that world to justify the interaction.
3. My recommendation is to focus on one character to start with, and do it right :) You can always make another later, and I believe it's best not to divide your efforts early on (if st all).
4. I recommend reading the Wordpress page (https://hogwartsbynight.wordpress.com) which contains the majority of settings and character creation docs.
welcome to the forum!

In the forums we post under our character names, not the generic user name. You register an account for each character. Luckily you can register multiple accounts by registering with the same email address. If you do that it asks you which name you want to use when you sign in. As she's said, you can change your name in your profile setting. I also will change displayed names when a character is created so it matches the game theme. The best thing to do is read the website, there is information in the setting and in the various character type creation sections that address the mixing. I'll quote here what you're looking for from: hogwartsbynight.wordpress.com/character-creation/Important Notes:Mixed Group Interactions: Mixing can be varied and we request that it is refrained from being ‘random’ unless the interaction makes sense. The existence of each group is widely known and even taught in Defence Against The Dark Arts. There are various books on Dark Creatures written and published by Gilderoy Lockhart. Many things are still kept a secret, not even making it into DADA classes. Dark Creatures do have access to areas of the Wizarding World (diagon, hogsmeade etc…), but they are not welcome in the Wizarding Schools uninvited. Is there a Treaty? On 2 December 2010, the Minister for Magic and a group of officials from the Ministry (including Ms. Granger) sat down with several high status supernaturals. The Dark Creatures announced and ratified their intentions to keep to their own societies, maintain understanding and harmony (within reason of sect and membership conflicts), and to keep collective secrets from the Muggles. Soon after, laws and edicts were handed down among each group to enforce this. There are exceptions such as Sabbat, black spirals, other creatures, and vampires who chose to side with The Dark Lord. 3. Starting Out Right. I have a few ideas I want to try. Should I work on these one at a time, or are multiple characters allowed? Even if it is allowed, should my time be focused on one main idea? Are we going for breadth or depth? yes, start with one and develop it before juggling another one is also my suggestion. It is difficult to keep up. If you do want more than one, I'd say two at the start may be alright. They just cannot know each other or interact with each other. 4. Thank You. This looks like a lot of fun, and I look forward to learning everything. I understand that many of my questions might be found elsewhere, and if you see something I NEED to read please let me know. Thank you for your time in helping me find my feet. I'd read over the website and if you do have questions, come back and ask more. The more we answer for you the better our website will become!
