Alicia was out for student weekend in Arkham. It was a lovely day in Arkham with a light cool breeze and no chance of rain. She cherished these days, especially in the spring time where the weather could turn wicked on short notice. She dressed down for her trip from the school to the town, opting for a nice spring dress, lovely high heeled sandals and a cute floppy white hat. She was still dead white from the time she spent in the U.K. and she knew it would take a little time to get tanned instead of burnt. She wanted to have a nice even and thoughtful look for the summer holidays.
It didn't take long for her to retrace her steps into her favourite occult shop. There were a lot of places in Arkham that carried 'odd' items, but this one was absolutely her favourite. She gave the only password she knew to the shop keeper who seemed to accept it and let her through to the 'back room' of the establishment. Once inside she breathed in the incense and picked out the items she wanted for purchase. One of them was a silver coloured cauldron. Not school 'legal' for using in class, but still a nice piece for when she returned home to her new house in town after school term.
Alicia paid for her items and then stepped back outside, finding her way to a simple market for tea. Well. The best tea that she could find on this side of the world. In the end she had to settle for some iced tea, good enough, she missed drinking it while travelling.
She settled into a bistro chair at an outside table and waited to see who would come by.

Caleb hadn't been in Arkham long and he had already landed on his feet, he had managed to get a place to crash and a part-time job to pay the bills within hours of arriving.
He had to walk through the University campus on his way back from work, it had been hot and smelly work today. Taking a moment Caleb sat on a concrete planter with his cunningly concealed bottle of cheap liquor and watched the people go by.
It always made him laugh when normal folks crossed the street to avoid him, just as the group of young students started to avoid him. He grinned and pulled a bent cigarette from his combat trouser pocket. Watching the students drew his eye to the pale young woman sitting outside the Bistro across the street. He had to go that way to get home, slinging his well worn leather coat over his shoulder and stuffing the bottle of hooch into his back pocket he headed past the attractive woman.
With a cheeky smile and a wink he spoke, 'Lovely day for it Miss.'

Alicia sat up a little straighter, giving a soft blush. "It is isn't it." She smiles at him, for some reason she and some of the other students didn't seem as put off from him as they should, it was a very off group of kids that smelled of the mountains and strange flowers and herbs. Her eyes stayed on him as he walked past, she even gave a glance to the bottle of hooch; she seemed overly curious.
A waitress delivers a sandwich to her table, which she starts to very carefully start to pick apart to eat in odd individual pieces. "You seem like a man who likes to travel a lot, come from anywhere interesting?" She wasn't sure if the odd man had heard her at all. She leaned back again and looked up at the sky then over to where he was walking, too comfortable to follow anyone before finishing her lunch.

Caleb spun on his foot to face the woman. A warm smile spread cross his lips as he pulled out a chair and turned it round so he could sit and cross his arms on the back.
His thick Irish drawl was very evident as he spoke,
'Well Miss, you've a keen eye! My names Caleb Molloy and I hail from Ireland.' taking the bottle from his back pocket he opened it and offered it to the woman. 'What about you? Where you from darlin'? '

She smiles and looks at the bottle giving a polite decline with a gentle motion of her free hand, "I'm a bit underage to drink in the States, thank you for the offer." She continues to pick apart some of her sandwich, offering him the other half that wasn't touched yet, "Hungry? I know I am, the trip from the UK was horrid and I'm only just now getting over the jet lag."
Her smile was very kind, naive, young. "You're different, I can sense something about you that is very special." Her accent shifts slightly to British as she speaks, she keeps her volume low so their conversation is a bit quieter, "I'm from Florida, but just moved back last week from a short trip to England. You know how families are, always moving, always being transferred. Do I detect Irish?"

Caleb was used to people sensing something different about him, but this was the first time he had been asked about it. A smile covering the caution in his voice,
'I sure am Irish, born and bred in the shadows of the Mourne Mountains. Ive lived all over Ireland North and south. Most parts of the UK, lived in Eastern Europe for a spell and now starting my American tour.' His smile softened as he smelt the scent of the mountains and herbs on this interesting woman.
Caleb looked down at the bottle laughing to himself, 'Sorry 'bout the drink, didn't mean to get you in trouble darlin'.' taking another swig from the bottle and pulled the offered plate towards him and wolfed down the remaining sandwich. 'Thanks.' he hadn't ate since this morning and was starving.
'So tell me what makes you so special as to not avoid me and to know I'm not normal?' his grin took a slight predatory look as he asked her the question that could end in disaster. Caleb had already came across his fair share of Wyrm tainted scum since he arrived in America, he was hoping she wouldn't be the same.

"What makes me different is in my blood. I'll tell you what makes me special, if you tell me what makes you special. Your energy feels wild, as if it is flying through the forest leaves and resting among the woodland glades." As a Waitress passes by she orders another sandwich, giving a gentle motion for it to be served to the man at her table.
"I could have had a sip in Scotland and they wouldn't have batted an eye, tasting it here feels like I'm under surveillance. Speaking of such things, why Arkham? You have heard the stories and rumours... about the Witch House and the University? Come to think about it, that is why everyone comes. The history."
She smiles at him again, "I love your accent."

Caleb watches the girl for a moment as if weighing up his options, waiting for the waitress to return with another sandwich and then leave again he speaks quietly.
' I'm not sure you'd believe me even if I could tell you darlin', people tend to get hurt when they are around me for to long.' a slow and sad grin spreads across his lips. His memory drifts off to the time before he had to leave Ireland, his gaze seems to focus and then unfocus just behind Alicia. 'Sorry darlin' drifted off there for a moment, I'm in Arkham because theres old power here and it kinda just drew me here!'
Taking another more substantial gulp or his booze he continues, 'What brings you to Arkham?' then with a wink, 'Your right though I am different, more feral, closer to nature than the average traveller.' Again Caleb devours the sandwich put on the table before him.

"I'm going to going to school nearby. My parents were just transferred back over seas again." She takes in a deep breath, smelling the air. "I love this part of the country, I love the woods and the streams and the pure wild of the mountains. We were here before we were sent over to the UK. I've really missed being here."
She smiles at the waitress who drops off a triangular and rather dense piece of pasty; then walks off. Alicia picks it up and clangs it against her glass, "Scones are rubbish in the states. Since when are they in triangle shapes and good for holding up tables?"
Somehow she manages to eat some of it making faces the entire time before speaking again, "I would believe you, I believe in many impossible things every day. The chances I have heard of whatever it is you are, I've heard somewhere before."

He smiles as he watches the girls face contort while eating the thick scone.
'Alright then darlin' you've peeked my curiosity! What is it that you do that makes you think you'd know what I am?'
Pulling another slightly bent cigarette from the crumbled packet and lighting it,
'You cant expect me to just give up everything, we barely know each other! Maybe some day I'll show you what I am.'
Caleb realised Alicia had said that she lived here before, she might be able to help him. She said she spent time in the mountains.
'Maybe you could help me? You said you know the mountains?'

Alicia was game, and feeling just a little daring. She slips her wand under her sleeve so it is still out of sight of mortals and makes a point to his shirt. Any buttons that may be undone suddenly button themselves. She lowers her hand to her side, slipping the wand back into the wand pocket of her coat. "Does that satisfy your curiosity? Did you know that the Witch House Cafe is famous because of the witch trails?"
She picks up her cup and drinks, watching his reaction. "Yes, I can see them from my bedroom window. They are gorgeous in this part of the world. I could compare them to wales, but that would just be wrong. They are their own beauty."

The sudden movement of his shirt made Caleb think he was under attack from an unseen assailant. His eyes flashed with wolf like malice as he scanned the people nearby for the villain. His gaze rested on Alicia and the smirk that played on her lips.
Caleb quickly and with a lot of willpower calmed his raging beast, once he was settled he grinned an altogether far to wolfish smile which revealed sharp and unnatural teeth.
'So your a witch then. Me Ma 'god rest her soul' always said that me Granny was a witch. But up until now your the only one I've ever came across.' leaning in closer and whispering he adds,' well ive encountered a few of those Mage types before!'

"I've read about your kind, but I can't say I know very much. If you please, do not say what you have louder or I will get into a lot of trouble." She buys him a drink to go with his food and finishes her sandwich. "Other than this last term I have been in the mountains for quite a few years now, so you could say I may know them better than a few locals do. Are you looking for something, or simply making a new home here?"
It felt nice to actually get on track with a more meaningful conversation than dancing around the elephant. "You don't have to worry. Most of us are taught a lot of respect for others in our lessons."

His opinion of this pale woman had changed a lot in the past few moments. She had become someone that knew a little of his kind. This was good, at least he had someone he could talk to.
'Well Miss I'm certainly glad I talked to you today. When we go for a stroll in the mountains I'll explain more about me.' lifting the newly ordered drink to his lips he smiled.
'Sure I cant tempt you for a sneaky swalla?' he offered her the bottle in the brown paper bag.

She shakes her head politely no, "No swalla'ing anything in public. Us? Go for a stroll in the woods? We've only met. Bit sudden isn't it?" Alicia seemed lighthearted still about it all, as naive as she was she still understood stranger danger.
"Tell me more about yourself, where is your family? Are you alone in Arkham? Can you really... act differently, at will?" She was attempting to keep everything vague as possible. She finishes her food and dabs her lips in a feminine way before setting the napkin on her plate.
"I am curious about what you know, or think you know, of me."

Caleb put the screw cap of the bottle back in place, 'To be honest darlin' I don't know much about your people. Ive heard of certain groups of your kind but that's as far as it goes.'
A warm smile crossed his lips as she mentioned the walk in the woods. 'Don't worry none my dear, I ain't the big bad wolf. Yes I can change moods as and when I need too.' thinking back on the foolish close call that had just happened, Caleb grinned to himself.
'Though sometimes I have no control at all, but thats really only under extreme stress.'
An idea came this mind, something that might tempt this beautiful woman to meet him again. He hadn't quite lost his travellers sense of style since arriving in Arkham, though to be fair he probably never would.
'Tell me something gorgeous! Do you believe in faeries?'

"Certainly do, I don't know too much about them, but I've heard tales of students who were half one and the other." She smiles and pays for their food, pulling out far too much money than a child her age should have. "I don't like pixies though, so pesky, and they are really difficult to cage once you let them out again."
She stands and excuses herself for a moment, walking into the cafe and coming back out again after a few minutes smelling like soap. "I don't know any of them personally, we have read a little; it's too bad the school doesn't go into much more detail.

Caleb scratches the four day old stubble on his chin as he watches the woman talk, a look of astonishment crosses his face,
'Catching Pixie in cages? I should bloody well think they wouldn't be happy! Imagine that, your out for a morning fly past the tree stump looking for a nice spot to warm your self in the sun. Just starting to think about what you might do today, wondering if you'll come across that cute nymph down by the stream. When!' Caleb slams his open hands together for effect' whoosh! BAM! Some Aul'sod has you locked up in a cage!' he grins 'I'd dare you'd be rightly pissed off!'
Smoothing his hair back under his hat he continues, 'But sure who am I to judge? Ive been known to harass the odd little spirit or two for some info. I tell you what though! Thats some mighty fancy learnin' your doing there at school darlin'

She looks at him a bit amazed at the reaction, "Have you met a pesky pixie? Their ugly, and they aren't able to use common sense like us. They just fly around as they please biting everyone. Gardeners are always trying to get rid of them, especially in the UK." She begins to wonder if they are talking about the same kind of pixies.
She motions for him to follow her, "I have some shopping to do, you can stay here all day or come with. Your choice."
It would appear she was heading further into the market place, "What do you do for a living?"

Caleb picks up his coat and follows Alicia. He had seen the creatures she was talking about but he never knew their name, 'So they're Pixies! Hmm wonder what I'm talkin' about then? You'd think id know saying as ive partied with more than enough of them!' He scratches his chin again his face the picture of confusion.
Flipping the last cigarette from his packet Caleb crumpled it up. Tossing the empty packet in the bin he made a mental note to buy some more.
'At the moment I'm working in a warehouse, manual labour is about all I'm good for.' He laughs, 'Pays the bills though. What about you? Do you work or is it all just studying creatures?'

"I'm in school, i'm only 14." She laughs at the idea of working, "I would be pretty useless in a warehouse, and it would be illegal for me to be there. But why Arkham again, why here? Why, really? I suppose it would be much closer to the woods and mountains, and you seem the type to enjoy them." She looks around and sighs, "I'm not really into shopping today, I'm a lot more interested in you."
She motions around, "Anything you need, anywhere you want to go?"

Fourteen! Caleb almost swallowed his lit cigarette, coughing as he thinks to himself, I'm really gonna have to start checking ID's!'
Slightly embarrassed now, but not to much he apologised, 'Sorry darlin' I had no idea you were only fourteen, would never have offered you after the first time.'
Stopping briefly at a news agents Caleb buys another packet of smokes.
'I was just heading back from work to my apartment, so I wasn't really for doing anything when I stumbled across you.'
Having seen the hefty wedge of cash Caleb became a little worried for this girl, 'I know you can do some cool tricks, but even with all of them some people would take advantage of you! Do your parents know you have all that money? or even where you are?' he didn't mean to sound like a spoil sport but he was genuinely concerned for the girls safety.
'Maybe when your done shoppin' I could walk you home, make sure your safe!' he smiles hoping his earlier inability to tell someones age hadn't put the girl off him.

"No apologies needed, I looked much older than I am. I'm used to this." She was more than amused at this, as he turned read she kept smiling at him. "I'm afraid you will not be able to walk me home, I can find my way back to the castle on my own with the other students." She motions around to the various age range of other kids in the area around them, they were not alone in a random crowd.
"Yes, they are aware I have this much money. They paid me off when they said we had to move back so fast. We left Scotland so quickly we just donated all of our clothes, I'm supposed to buy new things. And I really wouldn't worry so much about me, I can take care of myself."
She smiles at him, "If it flatters you at all, you're cute. If I was older I would go for you, no doubt about it." She looks up to the hills, "I could probably have you walk me half way back up the mountain, being what you are is no crime if you were to follow along with the students. You would do yourself a favour detouring off into a mountain valley before a Professor saw."

He smiled at the pretty girl and gently mocked himself for not realizing she was only a teenager. Glad that he hadn't made a complete fool of himself infant of the first person from the supernatural world of Arkham.
Laughing out loud he spoke when he regained his breath, 'Me mother always said I should think first, talk later! I never understood her until I got older. But now as your painfully aware understanding is most definitely not the same thing as doing it!'
It wasn't completely like Caleb to be so unaware of his surroundings as he noticed they were surrounded by teens of all ages, sporting similar coloured clothes and badges.
'I would be nice to have a stroll in the mountains darlin'. I ain't connected with nature nearly as much as I should have recently.'

"Thinking first is overrated. Besides, I can sense that you are somehow disconnected from something. I cannot tell exactly what that is yet. Are you looking for someone, or some thing?" She walks from shop to shop with him, looking over and buying clothes that fancies her at random.
"We will go for a stroll in the mountain, as of yet I can find no reason to fear you."

Caleb had picked up a few tank tops he liked. He heard what Alicia had said about him being disconnected from something but had been too busy looking at shirts. Once what she had said finally sunk in he paused, what else could this girl do?
'You sure got some fancy gifts there darlin'. Your right though it aint a person, its a place. To be honest I'm not even sure its here at all!'

"A place, What sort of place? Is that why you want to go out into the mountains? There are many places out there, many abandoned homes and many animals." She was merely paying attention to how he looked around and his comments on the woods, but it was clear he wanted to go somewhere and that he didn't seem to really fit into this town.
"Do you think I would know where this place would be?"

Not really sure about the answer to that question. He was starting to feel a little awkward in the confines of the town. Even with its abundance of supernatural persons he felt like he was missing others of his kind.
'Maybe one of those abandoned homes would prove to be what I'm looking for. Have you spent much time out in the wilds?'
Caleb turned to face Alicia,
I'm hopin' if I find the right place, I might find some more like me!'

"Well I can point you in the direction of a few abandoned buildings in the mountain woods. There are many places where campgrounds have come and gone, leaving behind structures in the middle of no where. The mountain is full of them. Sometimes during holiday breaks I will go up there with a few friends just to look around and hang out. If you bring me a decent map I could show you some of the places we have gone."

Caleb thought about the map, he didn't have one. Thinking to himself 'Theres bound to be a book shop or tourist place! I'd find me a fine map there.'
He had been set for a lonely evening of getting drunk and watching TV, funny how things turn out. Now he had a potentially new friend and at the least a guide to some of the more outta the way places in Arkham. This little wizard girl was proving to be a gem.
His gaze rested on Alicia, 'You! My little darlin' are one in a million. There you where minding your business when a scruffy stranger. Who I might add I wouldn't let near you if you were my daughter. Walks right up to you and you end up buying him lunch and offering to help him.' He smiled, once again thinking he was genuinelyglad to have met this young woman.
