@morgan Mitch had arranged to meet Tess here for the beginning of a good night. He had ordered a bottle of red that Tess had liked on one of their previous nights together. He finished typing a text on his mobile and smiled, taking a sip of the wine. Pocketing the mobile he glanced over the menu as he waited for Tess. 'Never on time!' he thought to himself.

Tess was running late, timekeeping was not her strength, this time however it wasn't her fault the woman at the salon had been running late, nowhere else had a slot open to pluck, wax, cut style and generally torture and apply makeup for tess so she had been waiting for almost half an hour longer than she wanted.
As a result she was not in the mood for the smalltalk that her stylist kept attempting to engage her in. After several grunts and one word answers the woman had given up on attempts to chat.
Tess had sat in silence as the whole process of being pampered took place she sipped her coffee and watched the other customers, God's she hated people. Their duplicity annoyed her mind, chatting about nothing waisting words discussing the latest tripe on television, with lives so empty they had to fill the void within themselves.
Finally she was ready, her new pencil dress was made of fine raw blue silk it clung to her hips, showed modest cleavage, and made a pleasant sound when she moved. Her hair had been trimmed and fell in loose curls around her shoulders.
Her lips painted Ruby red and shiny, amber eyes lined with dark smokey lids. Yes Tess saw the admiring glances as she passed by men, and the occasional woman, she knew how she looked when she was done up.
She entered the hotel and was escorted to the table where Mitch was sitting, her heart skipping a beat he was indeed worth considering breeding with, one of the guys had told her he was very good at mma, given the calibre of the staff and people who trained there.
Tess was curious to see how Mitch held up on the mats. She almost felt him look up, smiling she sat as the chair was pulled out for her.
Good evening Mitch, I'm sorry I was delayed. How was your day?

He had seen her enter the restaurant, he wouldn't be worth his pay grade if he hadn't. As she came closer to him he looked up as if just seeing her and smiled. Mitch stood as the waiter pulled the chair out for Tess, he sat and began to pour a glass of red wine for her.
'Better for seeing you Tess....' he pauses drinking in her appearance, '.... you are as always breath taking.'
He handed her the wine glass as she sat and then the menu, 'Are you hungry? Lets order!'

Tess smiled she liked the rough grate of Mitch's voice, she watched as his he handed her the menu, yep 6ft something of military hotness all wrapped up and sitting with her. Sipping her wine Tess had to kerb her eating habits around normal people, especially if she didn't want a lengthy discussion about how she stayed so slim.
She cast her eyes over the menu ordering a large starter huge steak and generous sweet. She took a sip of wine it was delicious. She never normally drank, either she was working or on the bike, tonight she would make an exception.
Thanks Mitch, you know me, I could always eat! you picked a fantastic wine you sure know your stuff. a light blush rises to her cheeks she liked when he complemented her.

Noticing the blush to her cheeks he smiled, he liked to see her like this. Normally she seemed so formidable, so fierce and independent. Now she was humble and beautiful. Mitch orders pretty much the same as Tess, he enjoyed his food and packed away plenty of carbs for his training.
'So how have you been? What have you been up to?'

Tess relaxed she liked that Mitch ate a lot too, it made her apatite less of an issue, it also ment she wouldn't be grouchy because she was hungry.
Well I got a new job thats more permanent, I also hope to be moving in to a nice place soon, I'm guessing I will ask about you and your work and you will politely avoid the subject entirely? she smiled hoping to get to know him a little better. She lent back as the food arrived

He laughed softly and looked up at her, 'There's really nothing to tell about my work, it's boring. I work for a retrieval company. Mostly it's sitting at a computer and filling in reports and customer details.'
Mitch topped up her wine and drank more of his own, he stared into her eyes, keeping her gaze the whole time.
They had both finished their main courses and the desserts were being set on the table, 'So I was thinking we could head to a nice little Jazz Club not far from her after, what do you think?'

Tess was sure that Mitch was in the military he had the movements of a professional, she would have put money on it. His eyes bored into her, holding his stare she sipped her wine. A jazz club sounded good he might even ask her to dance. What's a retrieval company? she looked deep into his dark blue eyes he was challenging to read. She took another sip of wine the food was amazing here

'It's not as exciting as it sound's Tess. Basically I work a job that most people wouldn't want.' he takes a long sip of his wine and smiles.
'When someone can't pay their bills the company i work for sends out some people to retrieve the item they can't pay for!' he frowns and lowers his head, looking a little ashamed of what he had just told her.
'You probably think I'm the worst now!'

Tess set down her glass and pushed her empty plate aside she reached out and lightly touched his hand. I don't think your the worst at all, Mitch believe me I've met some terrible people. her eyes honest and bright she blushes slightly the wine was smooth and good she was surprised at herself she never normally touched people, indeed unless she was training in the gym or in bed she went out of her way to avoid physical contact.

He smiled as he looked at her hand then looked back into her eyes again. 'You know Tess, you have the most beautiful eyes, they truly are fantastic!'
Mitch turned his hand to lace his fingers into hers, 'I've been meaning to ask, how does a English lady like you end up in New York?'

Tess felt like some sort of college girl, well as close to being one that wouldn't rage out and attack mean girls as she could. A clear full blush dusted her cheeks, she definitely wasn't used to getting complements, well not from guys she was interested in.
Her tummy tiped over as their fingers touched. She took a big breath in, the smell of him almost made her giddy, earthy strong, the outdoors, trees, a light scent of vehicles and expensive aftershave.
Her eyes widening she hoped upon hope he would be able to be kinfolk, it's why she spent so much time at the fighting in the gym, she had seen plenty of guys that thought they were amazing, but she had quickly discovered they couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
After beating a few of the guys at the gym they started to drop the comments about beating up a girl. Tess finished her wine felling his eyes on her only made her blush a little more.
Thank you Mitch, Try having to grow up with eyes like this they get you all sorts of the wrong sort of attention.
She took a drink from her refilled glass glad she wasn't driving tonight. Why did she leave the UK, wow how was she ever going to answer that?
Honestly, Tess was painfully honest, to the point of brutal. She knew it. People either accepted it or didn't she decided that she was going to be as honest as she could. The wine was good she would have to remember the name of it, she took a bigger sip and began.
Well my ex boyfriend tried to kill me, almost did. After that you kind of want to become anonymous...
Tess's voice trailed off she remembered the look on five-daggers face as he stuck his silver blade into her, his feelings of betrayal had been written all over, subconsciously her hand went to her stomach the scar was still fresh.
Tess knew if not for the litany she would have probably had a worse time of things then she did. She only had to remember the beaten faces of the kinfolk. Those poor unfortunate women and the odd male that had to endure the abuse garou gave them.
If they did manage to escape they were hunted down like rats and dragged back broken. Garou weren't slightly the good guys.
Tess realises she had been silent for a while looking up she didn't hide the battling emotion in her eyes. She should probably go, no normal guy is going to want to deal with her baggage.
Sorry Mitch.. That's a lot to take in... I should probably go..

Looking Tess could see the look of horror on his face, as she stood to leave he didn't let go of her hand.
'Your ex tried to kill you, my God! What type of scum does that to a lady. Please don't leave Tess!' he looks up at her his deep blue eyes plead with her to stay and for a brief moment he looks like a little boy thats lost, tugging on her heart strings to stay with him, comfort him.

Tess felt Mitch holding her hand it felt like an anchor grounding her in the here and now. She sat down slowly having to rip her eyes away from Mitch, only noticing the three wine bottles on the table she was tipsy enough now, who was she kidding well bordering drunk. Stop talking about you Tess she told herself. Sorry Mitch I haven't told anyone that, I tend not to, talk about it.. Who does that? A really angry guy... she almost smiles at her own joke yes he was a really angry guy.
so now I have dulled the mood here what's the plan? Tess knew if she was going to drink anything more she would have to shift soon and the most likely place to find someone to help her into and out of her dress was in a ladys toilet where there were people more drunk than her.

He grinned and with his other hand touched the side of her face. 'You haven't dulled anything, you just answered what I asked.'he shook his head looked down and then back to her eyes and smiled, 'It was me that dulled the mood, so we should go and have some fun at the Jazz club.'
Mitch stood still holding her hand and dragging her to her feet with ease. He puts his arm around her and makes his way to the bar to settle the bill then out to the street to hail a cab. Once in the cab he tells the cabbie to take them to 'The Jazz Hall'.

Tess attempted not to flinch as Mitch touched her face she really really hoped he hadn't thought that was because of him. Tess hated being touched, though that wasn't so bad and he didn't stab her so that was a plus. She didn't have time for thinking much more suddenly she was up on her feet and Mitch had his arm around her shoulders. Tess was glad of the body heat the evening had chilled considerably since she had left her apartment. She let Mitch lead her to the cab she liked the take charge attitude he seems to have.
The cool air hit her like a wall and she resolved to drink more water and less alcohol when they reached the club. So what's the club like? Is it a shout at each other type of place? Tess relaxed against the warmth of Mitch as she looked out of the window watching the world go by.

He had kept his arm around her, gently pulling her into his protective grip. Smiling he looked down at her as she spoke.
'It can be a little noisy, but mostly it's calm and relaxed. We can have a quite drink and maybe a dance.'
Changing his gaze from Tess to the mobile phone he held down by his leg he tapped the send button on a text and slipped it into his jacket.
Ooc: Moving the next part to the new board.
