Dristan needed to figure a way to keep his mind occupied. So what was the best thing for him to do? Go back to the bookstore in Knockturn Alley to see if he could find some really old books and tomes in regards to history, mythologies, and lore. Entering the alley and as usual he was being watched. He honestly hated being watched like this but at least he could get to the store and get what he needed. Quietly he walked and kept his wand ready under his sleeve just in case as he finally made his way back to Black as Ink. Dristan enters the shop and as before was looking around and to a degree he liked the appeal of the place. It called to his love of lore. Hopefully the books that he gets here could keep his mind occupied enough so that he did not have to fully deal with what was going on inside of him from everything that just happened in his life. Quietly he waited at the counter as before. Would he see both individuals again? Honestly he did not know but he did remember their last meeting and the red flags they both drew at him with knowledge they knew without them even telling him. @rosebelmont @nikolaus

Upon hearing the telltale sound of the windchime hung by the front door indicating that someone entered the shop, Rose reached out with Auspex to knew if it was anybody she knew. Angry Wizard. The Tremere peeked around the corner of the bookshelf were she had been busy replacing a book and, sure enough, here was the Hogwarts professor she was expecting to see. "Good evening... Professor Adamson, was it?" She said with a slight nod in greeting. She was actually kinda surprised to see him back so soon. Another quick use of Auspex allowed her to check that yes, he still had his demonic parasite inside of him. Oh, well. He had been a good customer so far. She walked to the counter, wearing this elegant cocktail dress, her high heels clicking on the wooden floor as she did. "What do we owe the pleasure of another visit? Did your previous purchase give you the information you needed?" That seemed unlikely since he was still, well, possessed. "Or you're looking for more books, maybe?" She glanced at Nikolaus who was reading his newspaper in his favorite armchair, as usual. Then she turned her pale, delicate and deceptively youthful face back to Dristan, her hazel eyes peering into his bright green ones, curiously.

Nikolaus was halfway through the summary of a Quidditch match in the Daily Prophet - the headline 'Treachery and Disaster in Ireland' blaring across the front of the paper, visible from how Nikolaus was holding it, complete with an animated picture of a raging fire - when he heard the chimes. He set the paper aside, and looked up. And sure enough... a repeat customer. It was always so nice to have those, wasn't it? He got up, smoothed out his tailored, turquoise three-piece suit and reached for his cane. The possessed professor. The still-possessed professor. Well, this ought to be interesting. " Bienvenue, à nouveau," Nikolaus greeted, taking his place next to Rose. Damn, did she look good in that dress. He was able to keep his eyes on Dristan, though, to his credit.

Dristan glances up and sees the both of them and even smiles. "Good evening to the both of you." He nods respectfully. "Yes Professor Adamson, but please I am not at Hogwarts. Please call me Dristan." He looks between the both of them and noticed that they were both dressed to match so either one was trying to impress the other or they were a couple. "Actually the research is currently ongoing for the issue but I am hopeful." He rubs his chin for a moment. "I am actually here for my favorite distraction quite honestly." He looks to the both of them and he was studying.
"I am a huge fan if you will of magical and non magical history, mythologies and lore. I fear my vast library that my family has built over the generations I have read all of it and am in need of keeping my mind occupied. So here I am. You both helped last time and I have returned to see if by chance you all have some books and tomes that I could purchase to expand my knowledge."
Okay time to test the waters a bit. He looks at Rose a moment and smiles. "If I am being too forward forgive me. Part veela yes?"

"Dristan?" Rose pondered this a moment. It seemed awfully familiar for someone she'd only met once before today. Come to think about it, she'd agreed to call Aisha by her first name almost as fast as that. So she held out her hand for him to shake. "Rose."
The blonde didn't notice the way he was studying the way they were both dressed. As for her, she was used to Nikolaus making a point to always buy outfits that matched hers. It showed he liked her taste in clothes. She knew it might make people think they were a couple or partners, at least. But well, they were work partners and the Tremere could not care less what people thought anyway.
"Still ongoing, huh?" She smirked slightly at the way he'd phrased that. Maybe he'd taken her advice and entrusted someone else with this research, after all. "There are worse vices than being a fan of such topics. And if your library is a family heirlom, it only makes sense that you would want to contribute and enrich it. Anything in particular you'd like to see?"
This time though, the Tremere Regent noticed the way he was studying her. She raised a thin blond quizzical eyebrow. When he eventually spoke up, she relaxed a bit and smiled back, just a bit. "Quarter-veela to be exact. I'm taking it I'm not the first one you've met, now am I?"

If one was trying to impress the other it was probably him, but the Alsacian was not about to give up on the fact that they would someday be a couple.
Nikolaus' eyes never left Dristan's face. He saw the way he was looking at Rose. He didn't comment, and he didn't let it show, but he knew that look. It was one he had to get used to; those with Veela blood were considered inhumanly beautiful, something Rose had explained to him before. He was curious to know what would happen if a Toreador came into contact with one. He swallowed whatever snide comment was threatening to burst forth from his lips.
"Oh you have, have you?" he asked, in regard to reading all of his library. "Well, notre boutique specializes in obscure grimoires, gathered from all other the world." He'd leave it to Rose to explain. She was the one who gathered most of them. Although he had only read few of them, he knew there were books on rare, obscure forms of magic developed in the far corners of the world, particularly Southeast Asia, the Middle-East, South America, and Eastern Europe.
With Rose in business mode, he'd quietly follow behind her, letting her take the lead.

Dristan gently takes Rose's when she offered and the gentleman he was a gentle kiss to the top of her hand and a gentle release. "My honor to meet you once more and I mean the both of you." Speaking respectfully.
"Yes ongoing currently. Other things have arisen that require my attention and I have been dealing with them." He would not speak on the matters.
Dristan did smile when Rose asked if he had met another veela. "Many years ago when I was a student. She was beautiful as you are." His eyes looking to the counter remembering when he met Fleur. They never talked but he was lucky for her to look at him once. A fond memory.
He pulled himself from the memiry when the talk of books came up. "Whatever you both have I desire to read. The older the better." There was that brief moment if excitement he always had when he would purchase such things to read about.
"Allow me to ask this...what do you both recommend for a man that has a family library that spans several centuries?"

Rose let him kiss her hand and smirked softly as she noticed how careful he seemed to be to address both of them. As if he was afraid he might offend her, or more likely Nikolaus, if he seemed to be flirting with the blond Tremere.
She also got the message loud and clear. He didn't wish to talk about the 'possession' issue. And, even if it wasn't everyday you got to meet a wizard whose body served as a demon host, she was not that curious about it either.
"Is that so? Do you remember her name, by any chance?" Veela were pretty rare. Also, a lot of the veela witches happened to be French for some reason.
"The older, the rarer and the more expensive," Rose said, with an amused smile. Dristan had already shown that money was not a problem for him.
The Tremere Regent pondered his question a moment and then said: "As far as I know, even the most complete family library, even one that has been tended carefully over hundreds of years, always has holes. Tomes that the past generations spent years looking for and never found. I would start with that. Then, when this is taken care of, I would try to look for topics that were overseen, books that would make it even more special." She paused. "In other words, if you want us to be able to answer your question, you have to start by telling us more specifically what your library contains. For example, what are the books you're most proud of?"

This guy was bold, there was no mistaking that. Kissing a woman's hand was a sign of respect... a century or two ago, and was almost unheard of in modern nights. Still, Nikolaus let it slide; maybe this guy knew they were vampires (almost everyone else in Knockturn Alley did), and figured Rose was a lot older than she looked. Which, of course, she was.
Another veela student? They were rare indeed, or at least from what Rose explained. Veela having children with humans wasn't unheard of, but it wasn't common, either. He could see Rose's interest. As the subject changed to books, Nikolaus stayed silent, eyes locked on Dristan, but occasionally flitting to Rose. He loved how passionate she was about books. She owned a bookshop, after all; it was only fitting. They could spend hours talking about them, and Rose never ran out of things to say.
So, Dristan had a library of his own. Not uncommon for wizards, particularly those with the money to afford it. If it was as big as he claimed... him coming here looking to add to his collection must have been quite the compliment to the Regent.

"Her name was Fleur Delacur of Beauxbatons. I met her during when the Tri-Wizard tournament happened at Hogwarts. She never spoke to me but she did well it probably meant nothing but she did look at me and smiled. I have never forgotten."
Now when Dristan had kissed Rose's hand he caught how cold she was but for right now did not bring it up. Were they vampires as he was starting to suspect? Seemed that way but again not the topic at the moment.
"The books I am most proud of? There are several honestly. But if I had to choose just one series it would be my family's written accounts of the wars magical and muggle they were involved in dating back centuries even to my ancestors involvement in the world gatherings for the great wizarding councils of ages past and the writings within stating the outcomes of thoses gatherings."
There was excitement in his voice when he spoke about the books, tomes and scrolls within his family's library that he maintained.
"Then I have so many books and scrolls of history of the wizarding world. Then the books of different types of magic from ancient charms all the way to writings about blood magic. Not a lot on blood magic but the writings are there. Then there are the books of lore so many to count. Also the classics. Hemingway, Hawthorne, Poe, and the list goes in into modern novels." Okay hopefully he just did not overload them and have them think he was nothing more than a bookworm. He never really found people that were interested in books like he did.

"Delacour?" She smirked slightly. "A very old family of French wizards. Though, I guess, they're more famous for their ties with the Weasley family these days. They've been studying at Beauxbâtons for pretty much as long as the Academy has existed," She explained, before adding. "Or so I'm told. But I can confirm that at least part of it is true, having been a student there myself."
She looked at him as he released her hand, tilting her head in a way that seemed to say. 'Have you figured it out yet?' Of course, the Tremere had known letting him hold and kiss her hand was going to be a dead giveaway, pun intended. But it's not like she was trying to hide what she was. She rarely volunteered the information but whenever she didn't strictly need to uphold the Masquerade, she would never lie about being Kindred. It was something to be proud of, after all. Especially when you're Tremere.
"Wars wizards and muggles were involved in?" Rose turned to Nikolaus, knowing that this was a subject that was most likely to catch his interest. The blonde was interested by the topic too, of course, for different reasons. She'd lost a family to a wizard war. But Nikolaus had become Kindred because of a war.
Rose was listening with rapt attention, and despite her mostly neutral expression, the way her eyes seem to shine would betray that. He never really found people as interested in books as him? Well maybe today was his lucky day. "Poe's writing is very enticing, isn't it?" The Regent said, with a soft, barely there smile. "Have you read Beaudelaire too? It's exquisite. Though I'm afraid the English doesn't do justice to the intensity of the French text. But maybe you happen to speak French too?"
She went to fetch a log behind her counter before coming back to stand in front of Dristan once more. "History of magic in general is one of the most interesting subjects if you ask me. You can look for things to read every day for a century and never run out of books." It kinda showed she was talking from personal experience there. "Blood magic, really? Such writings are very rare." And so easily stolen or set aflame whenever a Tremere was to find them. Of course, not all blood magic was Thaumaturgy. But all Thaumaturgy was blood magic. "Maybe I should be the one visiting your library, next time."

La Famille Delacour. Nikolaus had heard of them as well; one of the most famous pureblood wizarding families in France. Even before Rose had told him of them, he'd heard the name among French-speaking Tremere in the Geneva Chantry. Marrying into the Weasley family, especially after their newfound fame in the wake of the Second Wizarding World, only increased their family's prestige to the international level.
When he mentioned wars both magical and muggle, he caught Rose's glance. Yes, he was embraced during the waning days of World War II, and would have almost certainly died had Clan Tremere not decided he was worthy of joining their ranks. Rose would later tell him of the Global Wizarding War, which began nearly a decade before World War II, but both ended in 1945... coincidentally, the same year Tom Riddle graduated from Hogwarts, who by all accounts was even worse than Grindelwald.
Fate had a strange sense of humor.
When the topic switched to magical history, Nikolaus interjected. "My favorite topic." And it was; he found it fascinating how many different events in the Wizarding World also happened to coincide with major events in both the muggle world and the world of kindred. "I particularly find the Dark Ages fascinating."
And for more reasons than one.
When at last the topic shifted to blood magic, Nikolaus raised an eyebrow. Dristan saying he had books on the topic didn't necessarily mean he had books on Thaumaturgy. And if he did, he wouldn't be dumb to speak about it openly and unprompted.

Dristan took in the looks and had his answer. He was in the midst of vampires...interesting. "The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat, The Raven. The man was very exquisite in his writings but that is my opinion of him." He smiles for a moment.
"Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door, With such name as Nevermore. Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before." His favorite quote.
When Rose looked to Nikolaus when he had brought wars Dristan nods knowing now the gentleman was older than he appeared. "Alas dear lady I have not read that one but with a simple spell I would be able to speak and read such a beautiful language."
"Indeed the history of magic is never ending thus why my search always continues." Another smile as Rose is now in front of him.
"The dark ages....where lore, myth, magic all collide and superstitions ran rampant. A time I would have loved to see." He nods respectfully to Nikolaus.
"Yes the writings I have on such magic came from ages past from an ancestor. Strange though he seemed to have vanished in a sense. Not die just vanished according to my family archives."
He looks at Rose for a moment with her comment of visiting his family library. "Then perhaps I should prepare a room for the both of you at my estate. It will take you both a very long time to go through all I have."
He ponders a moment. "A question without being disrespectful. We are what we are. To be a proper host I must know your favorite type to dine upon?" A calculated risk.

"Magic is such a convenient thing, isn't it?" Rose asked, rhetorically, when Dristan mentioned the possibility to use a spell to become instantly fluent in any given language.
"Disappeared, huh? Well, having writings about such rare and dark forms of magic in one's possession always constitutes a risk for the owner." The Tremere said that flatly. Whatever had happened to Dristan's ancestor, he probably had it coming somehow. Of course, he had not necessarily died. He could simply have been embraced into clan Tremere, or any other clan that uses a form of blood magic or blood sorcery like, for example, the Giovanni.
"Perhaps. It would actually depend on the location of your estate." In other terms, it would depend on whether or not Dristan's family estate was located on Sabbat territory. "Also we would have special requirements regarding our accomodations." Such as being underground and without windows. Although, if the estate was big enough, Rose would probably ask to have her own room.
Rose chuckled softly. "It is not disrespectful. I do believe it is, however, premature." Besides, they were Tremere. It was not as if they were as picky about who they fed on as Ventrue were, after all. "Let's go back to trying to find some interesting pieces to add to your library, shall we? Also, you said you were teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, correct? Maybe you could use some more material for your classes, no?"

Nikolaus stayed silent as Dristan listed off of his literary tastes. He knew Rose would approve, but right now, Nikolaus was focusing on other things. A spell that could allow one to learn any language? How fascinating. There was a Thaumaturgy ritual that did something similar, but it was a bit more involved than what Dristan seemed to be describing.
"Do you know how long ago the books disappeared?" If it was recent enough, it was possible that Rose and Nikolaus could at least find out what happened to them. But his offer surprised him; he wanted them to stay with him at his estate? And Rose was accepting? Was there something in Dristan's aura that Rose saw that he didn't? They barely knew this guy. And then it hit him; he was a professor. Aisha wasn't one anymore; and if Rose wanted to get into Hogwarts - and perhaps more importantly, Hogwarts' library - she needed a new current professor to vouch for her. A letter of recommendation from Aisha wasn't going to go as far, anymore.
When Rose shot down his request to know what to 'dine upon,' he had to suppress a smirk. He remained silent while Dristan answered her question.

"Convenient yes but still ever changing." Dristan spoke calmly. "My estate is in Loughton outside of London. Should you both wish to take my offer to view my family's library then I will make the arrangements. Neither of you will need to worry about anything. Any special conditions or amenities will be taken care of for the both of you."
He glances to Nikolaus at his question. "The books and his writings never disappeared. Just himself. It was centuries ago honestly but at least his writings survive." A respectful nod.
"Yes my apologies. I came here to add more to the library. Besides payment is there anything I could do for the both of you from helping me with the last visit and now?"

"We just might, Mr. Adamson, we just might." Rose replied before correcting herself regarding the way she’d just addressed him. "My apologies… Dristan."
She could tell that Nikolaus was not totally approving of her decision, but he also knew she couldn’t resist such a promising library. Dristan, for all demon possessed and Slytherin than he was, seemed to be someone she could trust not to try and kill them while they’d be staying over. First, because he was a bookworm and a Hogwarts’ teacher (even if the reputation of Hogwarts’ professors had been slightly tainted after the Quinn episode). Second, because he seemed to be looking for the company of people who would share the same interests and would not judge him. Rose could play that part. Besides, Nikolaus would be there to protect her. He always was.
His next question surprised her. He still wanted to thank them, after the generous payment he’d made last time? The Tremere Regent pondered the question a moment and then, replied. "Actually… I’ve been entertaining the idea of applying for a position at Hogwarts, lately. As a professor yourself, maybe you’d have some advice to give me?"

Nikolaus stayed silent as Rose made the arrangements with Dristan. If there were windows in the room, Nikolaus would insist upon warding the room against sunlight with a Thaumaturgy ritual both he and Rose knew, but other than that, he trusted her judgment, even if Nikolaus himself was leery about the idea of staying with a complete stranger, even if it was for the sake of research. This wasn't infernalism, if anything it was the opposite of consorting with demons; it was opposing them. A chance few Tremere ever had and a chance that fewer still accepted, but he knew Rose wasn't going to pass it up, and he would follow her into hell itself if that's where she wanted to go.
But what Dristan said next surprised him as well. This guy seemed awfully eager to repay them for, in their eyes, had just been business as usual at a bookstore. He knew he was desperate, but... well, whatever, never turn down a gift. Rose certainly wasn't going to. He knew what she was going to ask for before she even opened her mouth. He was a professor at Hogwarts. It was obvious what she wanted.
He stood in silence, glancing from one face to the other as they spoke. He had nothing to add.

"My advice is very simple. For me teaching the students and being a part of the staff to help them learn such wonderous rhings is my true core."
Dristan looks between the both of them and continues. "It does not matter what is going in your life or...unlife. The students come first if this is what you desire. Their safety, the teachings and most importantly being there for them. To let them know they can trust and rely on you is what is important."
Dristan always took his professorship with such dedication. "That is my advice. If there is more than by all means please let me know."

Rose listened quietly and nodded in agreement with what Dristan had said. She noted how passionate he sounded about it. Granted, it was not exactly the kind of advice she'd been looking for but she would take it anyway.
"This sounds very reasonable and it shows that, while you obviously enjoy teaching, you also take your duties as a teacher very seriously. Now my question was more about the practicalities of applying for a teaching position as Hogwarts. What would be the right process to follow? What kind of reference would I need? And also, what should I expect in terms of interview process?"

Nikolaus listened as well. As a former soldier - or, rather, as a former insurgent doing several things he's not entirely proud of during a guerilla campaign against foreign occupiers committing war crimes - one of his rules was that he would never harm a child. He'd seen too many of them hurt during the war, and he knew that was a line Rose would never cross, too.
But he also knew that Rose wanted more than just 'advice.' As she asked her next question, he remained silent, only standing dutifully at her side, his eyes never leaving Dristan's face.

Dristan looks right at Rose very seriously. "Taking on this role as you desire first and foremost is the safety and security of the students. Not only will you be a professor you will be called upon at times in the night of course to make sure the students follow the rules and such. Make sure they are not out of bed after lights out and also they are staying out of trouble."
Dristan glances and sees parchment and quill and ink. "Let me do something for you that will help your process."
Right in front of both of them he writes her a recommendation letter.
Headmistress McGongall,
I write upon the behalf of the recepient of this letter. The recepient has my full trust and backing as the professor Defense Against the Dark Arts and also myself.
I have spoken one on one with recepient and she is well aware of our policies and guidelines pertaining to our glorious school.
She is well aware that the the most important part of being on our staff is the safety and security of our students.
She has my full support and backing for the position she wishes to apply for.
Dristan Adamson Professor Defense Against the Dark Arts Hogwarts School of Witcraft and Wizardy
Dristan slides the parchment to Rose and nods in respect. "When you have your interview. Present this." He takes a step back.
"As far as the interview process goes. A lot of questioning. Figuring you out. Why you have applied and see if you are a good fit. She may even ask about your...gifts."

Rose nodded. "I understand. All of this sounds pretty reasonable to me." She wouldn't go as far as making sure that students went to bed on time but apart from that...
When Dristan started writing a recommendation letter for her right in front of them, the usually expressionless Tremere couldn't help but raise a quizzical eyebrow. Though she refrained from saying anything or interrupting him, she couldn't help but wonder if it was in memory of Fleur Delacour - who had apparently made a big impression on the young wizard he was back then - that he was being so helpful with her. Surely the fact that she didn't throw him out of the shop upon discovering he was possessed couldn't have been the only reason... Right?
Whatever the case, Rose didn't hesitate a second before taking the parchment when he handed it to her. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, they say.
"Why, thank you, Dristan," she said, going through the letter once more, "I'll be sure to use it if it turns out my own skills and eloquence are not enough to convince the jury." She said that in a slightly sarcastic tone but it showed she was genuinely grateful. She had been looking for strong references in case Mary would outwardly disapprove of her getting a position at Hogwarts. Now she has one.
"Will she now?" Rose was already starting to think of how to answer those questions and which one of her rituals she should choose to demonstrate, if asked.
"So you truly do not mind Kindred teaching young witches and wizards in the least, then. Would you happen to be a friend of Professor Kestrel's?" She might as well ask, now that she already had the letter she needed.
