After events at Ross's Corners, healing from its aftermath, and then his vacation with Matilda afterwards, Claw Marks really hadnt been open for four weeks. Not that Arthur had too many walk-in customers as it was. Most of his business came through acquisitions and private sales.
His planned session to teach Matilda a basic spell, that had become a frantic trip to the sleepy town outside Arkham proper, had been cleaned up since they'd returned. The bookshelves that had been toppled that morning after he and Caleb had returned from their fae wine induced 'dream' had been rifhted, and the books restacked.
All in all, the shop looked to be in good nick, and he had put out the 'Open' sign just before lunchtime. He normally didn't open until the early afternoon, preferring the evening traffic, but why not? He wasn't doing anything else right now. Matilda was back at work, and things were about as normal as they'd get.
Arthur sat at the counter, using his laptop to look at homes for sale in the area. Ideally he wanted something in the township, not out in the country. He and Matilda both had lives in the city, and he wanted to disrupt her work and research as little as possible. He had a few short listed, and needed to do some research.

Alicia opens the door and steps inside. She wasn't certain she had come into this shop before, but the name of it certainly interested her. Looking inside she smiles and steps into the shop exploring just what it was that they sold. She was a lovely girl, there was a slight air of adventure that accompanied her and a faint scent of motorcycle oil.
She seemed quite to herself, but yet not bothered by the adventure of exploring the room. Around her neck was a small canon camera, it hung loose at her side. She was wearing an archaeologists vest which was slightly torn from ware.
Her presence was quite approachable, there was dreamlike quality to her movement.

Arthur is sitting at the counter at the back of the shop, working on his laptop. He was an unassuming Englishman in his late thirties. He's small, only 5'6" but looks smaller hunched over. His dark brown hair is ruffled forward, as if hiding something on his forehead.
The shop is books. Books and books and books. None of them new, most of them very old, many in glass cases not just on shelves. In one corner near the counter at the back is a couch, and arm chair, with a side table between them. Behind the counter is a half open door with a sign that says 'private' and more books in glass cabinets and a desk can be seen through the crack.
A lot of the books, on examination, are about occult subjects. Old lord and tales, the ones in the locked cabinets being tomes of forgotten spells or demonic lore. This man appears to be a serious collector.

"How much for the spell books?" She peers over at the man behind the counter. "Are they for sale or just for show?" She was always interested to see if she could find anymore mythos lore from bookshops such as this, not many people typically knew what they had.
She looked innocent enough when she asked, a simple inquisitive smile on her face.

"That depends on the book, Miss. Each has its own value, either monetary or intrinsic. What sort of spells are you interested in? There is a wide range, from fanciful to potentially lethal. And they are priced accordingly."
He looks up and smiles. On anyone else his age it might be considered lecherous, but he makes it seem otherwise. He has a slight manic twinkle in his eyes, and a scar that runs from the centre of his forehead right up through his scalp. It looks relatively new, and he has tried unsuccessfully to depart his hair to cover it.
"An unusual subject to be interested in. Are you from the university by any chance?"

"Yes, I mostly work in the anthropology department." She wasn't phased by his 'crazy', equally so she also seemed like she had seen things that had marked her on the inside. "I am currently curious about the connection between native Americans and cosmic influences. Primarily I look for any books that other people may move away from, that are a bit... different."
She leans in a little to try and read the book titles.

"Then you're probably aware little has been written that focuses on true Native American magic. Most is new age rubbish starting in the late 19th century. The native traditions being primarily oral hasn't helped matters."
He comes around the counter, walking with her to one of the locked display cabinets. He takes out a ring of keys, and unlocks the door, removing a slender tome.
"This one is from around 1620. It was hand penned by a priest and scholar who walked west, and encountered tribes in peace. His words come from a Christian perspective, but his observations are quite exquisite."
Arthur hands her the slender book. More a bound leather journal. There is no cover inscription. Inside the handwriting is near and not too faded.

"Miskatonic has a very extensive collection of rare books, it is very difficult to find originals or anything unique to read there. IT is a shame the really good stuff was locked up, I'd love to get my hands on one in particular in the collection." She puts on some white gloves and gently takes the slender book without the inscription. Carefully she opens the cover to scan over the words, checking what language and topic is may be on. "How rare would you say this book is?"

"Well, clearly, being hand written, it is one of a kind. As for the knowledge it contains, I've found nothing like it in the mainstream press, or even in boutique press." He watches her with the book, clearly appreciative of her care and thoughtfulness. The language is a mixture of English and Latin, the subject matter, as you browse, discusses the beliefs of the tribes being discussed, and the comparison and similarities to Christian teachings.
"Can I ask which book it is you're interested in? There's a few there I'd like to get my hands on myself." He smiles. And there's that twinkle again.
