Being new to Arkham, Jeremy Hickory felt the intense desire to explore his surroundings. The fact it was night time didnt bother him. Growing up in a quaint English village, he grew accustomed to the night and all the personalities that came with it. And so, he wondered into the Market place. Barren, aside from a few benches and trees. He could sense already, that his new life would bring stories he could tell his family back home. Surveying the traditional Arkham buildings of the Market place, he was lost in thought, imagining the memories and history of each brick and stone. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye he sees movement. A woman, lying on a bench, having a drink, wearing sunglasses on. Unable to determine whether this is someone whose reached rock bottom, or just someone who is enjoying the night much as himself, Jeremy decides to make his appearance known.....granted from a good distance....just to be sure.
"Hello there!" He says with a very English accent. "Beautiful weather for star gazing is it not?"

Readjusting his glasses, Jeremy briefly thought about approaching the subject with which he was lost in but moments before, the curiosity of a place and the history and memories of its past and present. But he decided against it, discussing such things with strangers usually brings a strange look from said person and Jeremy finds for the next few weeks at least, eye contact with that person to be nothing but awkward.
As the lady sat up and removed her sunglasses, it dawned on Jeremy that she is the first person he has spoken to since coming to Arkham. Maybe they are all like this? Looking at the flask, he puts up his hand in polite refusal. "On any other night maybe, thank you though." He smiles.
"This town is new to me and I cannot find sleep. So I thought I would go for a walk and see this wondrous town at night."he says opening his arms in a gesture to suit."I have opened a store in town, and for the last day or so that little space has been all I have seen!"exasperation leaves his throat as he realises how true that is." I felt the need to get out and stretch my legs more than anything." It was clear to him at this point that being cooped up inside his shop has had the adverse effect of being chattier than usual.
"Contractors you say?" One of his eyebrows crests the rim of his glasses in a quizzical manner.

Calista watched the animated fellow before her with interest. She revarded him for a moment and took another sip of the flask, looking up and down the lamp-lit street.
"I am having my home remodeled." She said, though it was a lot more than that. She wasn't aware of any new stores in the area, but she became curious. Her emerald eyes returned to the stranger.
"A new store?" She asked, the heavy curiosity evident in the undertones of her voice.

Catching her emerald eyes, Jeremys breath startles momentarily. Through years of experience he knew that superstition of any kind kindles from fact. And he had heard many tales of emerald eyes being of significance. The fact it was a clear night and it was just him and this lady brought forth stories from his collection to his mind.
"Oh" he says regaining himself. "Yes well I know what you mean. My shop is all odd angles and of curious craftsmanship so I can understand the need of contractors." Delighted that she asked about the whereabouts of the shop Jeremy continues "My shop dwells upon French Street among the polish and irish families there. I sell antiquities and so forth. What do you do?" He asks raising an eyebrow over his glasses

Calista's mouth quirked at the edges, finally spreading into a smile alarmingly similar to a Cheshire Cat's. "Antiquities you say?" She cleared her throat and narrowed her eyes. "What kind of antiquities?" She asked, her question seemingly asking the obvious, yet non specific. Her gaze held the man before her as if she willed him to try and run. She always loved a good chase, and this one seemed nervous. But he had that muggle air about him, either that or he was a good actor.
"I am in....entertainment and fine antique art. How quaint." she said, slipping the flask out of sight. She chuckled. "You must think me a wino on a park bench. It is not very classy of me." She said, standing up, her heels making her 5 ft 10in seem even more towering.
"Calista. Calista Redthistle." She said, extending her hand to him.

"You know things such as old family heirlooms, pieces of old but well made furniture from the 1400's onward. Umm books from all areas of the world and some collectors pieces aswell! Tho some reside in my store in Oxfordshire." He says looking into her eyes. Always happy to talk about his work. This time however he felt an odd uneasiness. As if he was being toyed with by a cat and he was the poor unfortunate mouse. The night, he presumed, had much to make this situation feel such an atmosphere. That and he felt it was impolite to leave a conversation without the proper formalities....no matter how much he wanted to....such as this moment.
As she stands up, the feeling he had felt prior re-emerged momentarily. Standing at 5'11" himself he rarely had to look up to meet the gaze of people in particular the ladies, this occasion however was different. But this time politeness was paired with curiosity about this woman. Or rather her antiques.
Meeting her hand with a shake he introduced himself. "Jeremy Hickory, the pleasure is all mine Calista. Entertainment and Antiques you say? What kind of antiques do you sell? And entertainment. I must confess I rarely see the two in unison as a profession." He furrows his brow as he tried to think of a time when he HAD seen such a thing.
In truth he didnt know what to make of this woman. Who wore sunglasses at night and drank wine on a park bench. Jeremy always tried to not judge people without more understanding of their situation. "Not at all" he says lightly punctuating each word. "Each to their own and allthe that!"

"Pleasure to meet you, Jeremy." Calista said, smiling a little bit less intimidating at this point. "I used to own an entertainment district in London some years ago. As for the fine arts at antiques, I am an artist on the side myself, but I am a collector myself. My family is one of very old blood and the family heirlooms piqued my interest in items of old. I have a very extensive library in my estate, which has been in my family for generations." She said, looking about.
He looked uneasy and she shook her head. "Don't worry, I don't bite. You caught me at a very awkward and rare moment. I am usually a bit more reserved. Stress is a funny thing. My social skills have dulled over the past few years, as I have not been in the public light much to my own personal decision."
"So why the move to Arkham?"

"Old blood aye?" He says to her. " In what way old blood? As in royal?" Jeremy says in near disbelief. "An extensive Library?" Jeremy says with a keen interest. Tho even he thought it would be rude to invite himself into someones personal library despite how enticing it would be.
Jeremy nonchalantly brushes himself down when Calista made the remark about not biting. " Oh " Is about all he can manage when being told about Calistas social skills and her approach to the public eye, maybe if he knew her better he would approach the subject but for now at least his curiosity is abated.
"For a few reasons" Jeremy begins. " First and foremost I have been looking for a place to set up in the states as i have a few clients here. And Arkham was as central place as any to those clients. Secondly, and if I'm honest it was the defining reason, is that I have a friend in the psychiatric hospital here. And I feel it is my duty to look out for him." Despite it being a sensitive subject, Jeremy had realised that he would never had the courage to go by himself and at this time of night at least, he had resolved to take anyone. Tho that is most definitely the tiredness and the lateness of the night that has affected his current situation. Upon his thoughts Jeremy quickly tried to make amends. " Not that ive seen him yet. Tho I have been meaning to go."

Calista smiled. "Yes, though I have not heard anything about royalty. However, knowing my family, they were probably sheep of the dark kind." She laughed softly, yet with a bit of brightness to it.
"I believe that there was another store owner interested from the area, though I have yet to hear from him." She said, furrowing her brow. "I will be selling the estate. I have doubles of most of the books, and a few interesting manuscripts as well." I am versed in old books to a point, as I do love to read. However, the finer points are lost on me with first editions, binding and the like. Many are hand-quilled." She said, stopping herself. "Written." She was trying not to sound too old fashioned and witchy.
"I am sure that a visit will do him some good. I have yet to be to the hospital since....my uncle's situation." She said, sighing. "I hate to keep you this late. I am sorry if I had startled you in any way." She said, surveying the street once more, as if she was watching for someone. She wasn't, now, of course. But it was something to pass the time.

Jeremy laughs not knowing what to make of Calistas remark regarding having some dark sheep in her family history.
However another antiques store does peak his interest, he didnt realise there was one in Arkham, tho he hadnt really done any research on the matter. "Another store owner of Antiques and so forth? Whereabouts is the store as I would enjoy visiting!"
What does interest the most however, and no matter how hard he tries to hide it, it is still clearly evident. Is the fact Calista is selling some of her books as part of her estate. "How come your selling your estate? Id be happy to take those books of your hands! Obviously paying you for them...." he pauses to watch her reaction. "I find old books, first edition and so forth, tend to be bought by people who have a love for that particular book. Not necessarily by lovers of the language that it holds within." Upon Calistas remark on the quilled/written phrase Jeremys ear prick up even more. "Oh Quilled!" He says with no ounce of hiding his interest in the matter. "Books like that tend to be very personal, with the authors personality coming through in the words themselves! "
Choosing to pass by the comment about her uncle as it would bring up more memories of his friend that hed rather not remember he attempts to reassure her that he isnt bothered by this little adventure. "Dont worry about keeping me. I had resigned myself to see more of arkham at night. If that includes meeting its residents.. "and he motions at Calista. "Then im happy for the coincidence! It has beenbeen a geniune pleasure!" He says smiling without showing his teeth.

Calista thought for a moment. "Yes, a bookstore, though. I am not sure about other items." She said, her voice distant for a moment. Her green eyes seemed to cloud over before she fonally came back to reality and the moment. "I just need something smaller. It has good memories, but a lot that I just don't wish to be a part of anymore. Call it wanderlust." she said chuckling.
"I do have my own collection that I brought with me, as well. I think it is finally completed." She inwardly breathed a sigh of relief that nothing else further was taken from her quilled remark. Sighing she shrugged. "Time for a change is what it boils down to."
At his mention of exploring Arkham, she laughed gently. "There isn't much to do or see this late, but if you are willing, perhaps a preview of your shop can be added to this otherwise dreary night out?"

Watching her emerald eyes cloud over momentarily, Jeremy wonders to what she was thinking. 'Maybe there is more to this bookstore? May have a rare collection? Well im sure I shall find out eventually.' He thinks to himself.
"Oh that is understandable! Memories have a habit of lingering for far longer than necessary, regardless if they are ones we fondly remember or those we hide from." He says raising an eyebrow and cocking his head slightly.
At the thought of showing his antique store to a potential new customer and acquaintance. A spark of pride and joy generates from within him. "Ofcourse! Of-Course!" He says causing a staccato on each syllable of the repetition. "Its about 20 to 25 minutes walk from here I believe. Unless you have other pressing matters?"
