The Professor was enjoying her new position at the school. She also enjoyed the evenings when she was able to just let go of the day and take to the skies to a much needed relaxing moment. She never felt more alive then when she was up there, in the vast sky. With her class work done for the day and the night following around her she stepped out of the room and into the garden.
Taking a deep breath of the evening air she changed and took to the skies. She first flew towards the lake, taking in her reflection as she skimmed the top of the water. He plumage a mixture of brown and black feathers. Her one outstanding mark that made her different from other falcons though was the pale blue eyes she carried with her even in this form. As she flew over the lake she heard the night callings of the animals hidden deep within the Forbidden Forest. One day she would have to take a walk in there or maybe a flight would be safer?
As adventurous as she was and as curious as she could be she also knew when to take a step back and plan before taking such a journey. Oh but that day she had hoped would be wonderful. Of course with the summer holiday fast approaching she may just take that adventure when classes returned in the fall.
From the view of the lake and the forest she flew towards the towers of the castle, past the quidditch fields, of course she had to fly through the rings, what joy was there in flying if you didn't have a little fun now and then. She laughed inwardly at herself as she went through the goal and headed on towards the towers. After a quick sweep over the castle and with the sun down and the night completely enclosed over the world she determined it would be best to head back towards her class. A cup of tea and a little dinner and then she could call it a night.
Just like that she returned to where she started, landing gracefully on the grass back into her human form.

As Aisha lands, the shadows around the archway into the courtyard begin to swell and grow. Tendrils of darkness push forth, exploring, and then just as suddenly, a woman steps out. Not as if she'd been standing in the darkness, but like the shadows spewed her forth from somewhere else.
She's tall, pale, beautiful, dressed in black, all satin and lace in a style of a century or more ago, somewhere in Latin Europe. Her long black hair swirls around her like tendrils of darkness. She turns, settling absinthe green eyes on Aisha. She smiles, showing white teeth too long to be normal.
"Well, hello. I heard we had a new teacher. Are you she?"

Aisha stood there, astonished at what was going on in front of her. She seemed frozen to her spot, her voice couldn't even form as she looked on, her pale blue eyes growing large as she looked on at what unfolded in front of her. She wanted to pull her wand and defend herself from whatever it was that was going on in front of her. The shadow, the tendrils of the darkness, then a woman. Her jaw must of dropped to the ground and she stood there staring for what seemed like forever, her heart beating wildly in her chest as she seemed to be shaken by what just happened.
The pale woman that came from the darkness was dressed in clothing not of this era stunned her. She was beautiful in her Aisha's opinion she couldn't deny that but her pale skin, her white teeth. This must be the vampire she heard the students reference and the Professor that taught the Vampire class. It would only make sense. After what seemed like hours she finally found her voice again.
"Dear Merlin's Beard, you know how to make an entrance and give a woman a near heart attack." Her hand over her heart as she caught her breath and tried to regulate the fast beating within. "Yes I am she. You must be the vampire that roams the halls the students have spoken about." She laughed a bit nervously, though curious as ever and loving that dress on her, she had never actually come into contact with a vampire. "Professor Aisha Ria." She nodded her head in polite gesture.

Mary smiles more broadly. She enjoyed making an entrance, and this unexpected encounter was a delight. This woman wa exquisite. What a Vampire she could be!
"Yes, I am she." She steps forward, extending her hand in greeting. "Professor Mary Kestrel, officially professor of Muggle Studies, but I guest in Defence Against the Dark Arts, and am holding that class for Professor Adamson when he returns after the summer."
"Forgive my entrance. It's so much quicker than a carriage, and I've been in London the last few nights."

Aisha smiled and took the woman's hand, it felt cold to the touch, icy almost. She shook it in a pleasured gesture of introduction. "Muggle Studies? Now that is an intriguing conversation, but first you must tell me who your tailor is. That dress looks wonderful and would make a great piece to add to my dozens or so of corset dresses I already own." She smiled and had finally gotten over the nervousness as she looked the woman up and down.
"London, such a beautiful city but way to busy for some." It certainly was busy for her in the line of work she had done previously. Though it also brought in the most customers. She wondered how they were doing. She should contact the manager once the summer holiday started and maybe drop by for a bit. She rather enjoyed the scene to be honest. A slight smile on her face as her mind wondered for a moment. Bringing herself back to the now she looked back to Mary. "I was just heading inside for some tea, care to join me?" She thought she would rather enjoy the presence of this woman and a cup of tea seemed lovely.

Mary smiles at the comment on her dress.
"This old thing? A young thing in Madrid. Ysabel. She couldn't have been more than fifteen when she made it. Very talented. Alas, I was in Italy when she succumbed to tuberculosis and passed beyond the veil, or I would have seen her embraced when she came of age."
She seemed in reverie for a moment, then nods, smiling. "I'm pleased to hear that the joy of a good dress isn't totally lost on this time!" And she laughs a little,
"Yes, please, I believe I would, very much enjoy some tea. Or at least the company it brings. Dietary restrictions, and all that."

Aisha didn't know really anything about vampires, but of course the least she should of know was the dietary restrictions. She blushed slightly embarrassed at forgetting such a simple thing. A slight laugh escaped her lips. "Oh dear, forgive me. I should of thought about the tea." She shook her head slightly and lead the way towards her office in the back of the classroom.
Looking over towards Mary she spoke "It is a shame that child passed, she would of been an amazing seamstress of her time." As they arrived in her office she motioned to the small two seated table in the corner. "Please make yourself comfortable. I will get the tea." Thinking, she didn't think she had anything now to offer this woman to drink and before she thought she spoke. "Is there anything else I can offer other than tea, biscuits maybe?"
For heavens sake Aisha, the woman drinks blood. She ignored that little fact. A smile on her face she just wanted to rather enjoy the company of another woman. Aisha turned to a shelf and grabbed her small teapot, the leaves, cups and saucers. She set the leaves in the tea pot and placed it on the table with two cups and the matching saucers. Placing her wand to the teapot she heated the water to a boil and sat down across from Mary. "I am sorry Mary, I don't have anything here to offer a vampire." Though if she thought about it she did.

Mary followed Aisha into her office, looking around curiously, noting the decor, looking for hints about the professor and her life.
"It's quite all right, tea will be fine. I can enjoy the aroma at the least, and the warmth."
She sat where indicated, running her fingers along the edge of the table, feeling the lace of the tablecloth. Nice, she thought. Aisha Ria had some style for a woman of the modern age. She could see a possible friend in this woman. Not an equal, but a companion. Someone to converse with over tea.
She looked back up at Aisha.
"I'm sure you have Dozens of questions."

As the tea came to the right point of steeping she poured both cups with the tea. "I don't take sugar or milk, I do have some if you wish though." She was seated with her legs crossed delicately. Of course she had many question but where to start? So many came forth at once. When did this happen? How did this happen? Why did this happen? Did she enjoy her life? How long did it take her to adjust? Was it her own free will? Did she know others? Seriously the questions just filled her mind so quickly she had to slow her mind down and steal a moment. Taking a sip of the hot tea she smiled a moment. "How long have you been this way? as a vampire I mean?" She looked up at her as she placed the cup back down.

Mary shakes her head at the offer of milk or sugar ..."No, thank you." Then picked up her cup, cradling it in both hands, inhailing the aroma of the steeped leaves.
She studies Aisha's face as the woman savours her own tea, wondering at what questions may be passing through her mind.
"A little over four centuries," she answered simply. "Before my death and rebirth, I had been married, with three children. I had seen my third grandchild enter the world. Since my husband had already passed, I chose to go travelling with an old friend, and well, the rest is history, as they say."
She inhaled led from the teacup again, actually bringing it to her lips, but pulling it away again with a hastily concealed display of revulsion as the liquid touched her lips.
"What brought you here, shortly before the year is out?"

Aisha listened and watched as Mary spoke to her. She left a family? She wondered why, possibly the loneliness of loosing the one you love could do that she presumed? Again she had never been in this supposed love everyone she came to spoke about so she just looked it over. She much enjoyed what life had to offer, she wasn't sure she would want to tie herself down to a single person as it was. Love be damned, she could love everyone if she wanted, but alas she just enjoyed to have fun, that was her love, fun.
"A dream from a long ago childhood brought me here. As to why so late in the year? A long year sabbatical in my home country came to an end and I needed a new scene. The old one was becoming, dry shall we say?" She chuckled softly, of course she herself wasn't dry but the scene had become so filled with business stuff she no longer found it fun. The long grueling business side of things was not her forte.
"Did it hurt to leave your family?" She wondered. It certainly didn't hurt her to leave her's behind, they wouldn't of approved of the path she took anyway. Her pale blue eyes looked up at Mary as she tried to reel her own thoughts in, because she had a mind that just found a rabbit hole and it would jump and before she knew it she would be lost on the conversation at hand and that didn't make for good company.

Mary listened to Aisha, cradling the tea in her hands. She chuckled at the dry comment, perhaps picking up on the other woman's amusement, perhaps for her own reasons.
"My family had grown, and had family of their own, they didn't need me anymore. My daughters were most accomplished witches, I think Helena, my eldest, would have given Hermione a run for her money. And Sarah, well, she was always my shining star. I think she had six girls in the end, one of whom was Prefect here. All Slytherin house, of course. My boy, Samuel, was less ... accomplished. But a good and loyal father, and a loyal employee of the Ministry. Yes, I missed them for a while, but when you are young of the blood, it is like being reborn in a new and fascinating world, and much of the old world falls by the wayside for a century or two."
She smiled at Aisha. "One of my reasons for returning is to trace my family tree, and see how many descendants I have, and what they are doing with their lives."

Aisha smiled back as Mary chuckled at her comment, she wondered for a moment than stashed it away for later. As she listened to her speak she sipped some more tea, enjoying the taste as it felt soothing down her throat. Ah what a good cup of tea could feel like. "That is a long family tree. Do your descendants know what happened to you? Are they aware you are still alive, well in a way?"
Aisha wondered what would family think if they had an ancestor that was what? 400 years old she had say? That was a long life and many more ahead of her if she were careful which it seemed she was, from what she could tell on her history alone. 400 years taught a person something. She played with the thought in her mind, wondering what it would be like to be that old yet look as amazing as Mary did? Did she enjoy in the pleasure's of what life offered or were the nature of things effected when she was turned? A question for later perhaps she thought.

Marynset the cooling cup down, and folded her hands in her lap.
"When I left, they knew I was going travelling. I continued to send owls home, detailing my travels, sending small trinkets for my grandchildren. Then after my rebirth, I stopped. My time was far too precious to waste writing to mere mortals, or so I thought. After a while, I wrote again, but there was no response. I have traced a few of my line, watching their stuggles and achievements over the last half decade or so. Reaching in from time to time, to give them a little help, when needed. That's how I became involved in the second wizard war."
She smooths down her skirts, then looks directly at the witch. Mary's eyes were bright, almost fluorescent green.
"Now, little lady, tell me of yourself, and your life. I have a feeling it will have moments, at least, that are just as interesting as mine."

Aisha held her cup in her hands wondering just how Mary's family had taken the help over the last five years or so. Or if they even knew it was her that was helping. When Mary mentioned the second war Aisha wondered what side she was on. Though she didn't ask as the woman across from her looked directly into her pale eyes, asking about her own life.
"Ah, well my life isn't nearly as interesting as I find yours. I was born in India, family moved here after the first war, I was here when the Second war took place. Then well, I rather went a left turn some where according to my parents, whom of course didn't know about my preference in work over the last decade or so." Aisha had already told one person of her past and of course the Head Mistress knew as well, she wondered for a moment about saying anything else. "As for the last decade or so, I worked, let us say in an underground business." She grinned, she did enjoy those days to say the least. "Went from working an place to owning one and now that is in other hands for the purpose of being here."
She smiled softly, it really wasn't a lot to go on, she skirted around pretty much the whole thing but some women were smart and with the woman across from her, she had no doubt that she could pick up on the little tidbits here or there. She wouldn't lie though if a straight question came out. She wasn't one to lie out right. But she could skirt all day long when desecration was needed.

"So, a fellow businesswoman! Excellent! I do find that those who get out into the world, and chose to make a part of it their own, in whatever way, are the more interesting souls to enjoy."
Mary had chosen her words carefully, and now watched the young witch for her reaction to what was said. It was odd how she had skirted around exactly what she did, though 'underground' implied quite strongly that it was either illegal by Muggle standards, or frowned upon by wizard standards. Mary knew about things 'underground'.

Aisha wasn't sure why she laughed softly, nerves or not but she did. "Ah, but I do not enjoy the business side of things, I much rather be doing well, what the business itself promoted." Ah the people coming and going, some regular's and some that weren't. "Souls?" She cocked and eyebrow up at the woman sitting across from her. "I rather enjoy well, breaking them down, spirits rather than souls I would say." She laughed, breaking someone down and building them back up. "Ah, but alas there aren't many men out there who enjoyed it. Though the ones that did. That made for an interesting evening. Women were easier, they searched for things they could never find. And those that did, well they found themselves in the same line of work." And then it wasn't even rarer for her to find someone to break her down in the same way. If anything she was far harder for any man to break her in the way her mind trailed off on. Even the occasional woman that came in and tried had been more of a laugh to her.
She placed her cup down and topped it off offering to do the same for Mary. "I would presume souls to you would mean much different than the spirit in my thoughts though. Something to do with the word 'embrace' you used earlier I would guess. No that I know much about your world." She smiled softly.

Mary mmmmms ...
"ah, yes, the breaking of spirits. Those of my blood are quite adept at such, and of all my kind I do believe we have perfected it. There is something rich and wonderful about taking a soul in hand, and testing it until it fails, only to rebuild it in your own image."
She accepts a warming of her cup with a smile,
"And 'embrace', yes. The term we use for making one of you, into one of me. Unlike the tales, there is far more involved than jut a bite. Otherwise the world would be severely overpopulated with the undead."
Warming her hands on her cup, she looks at the woman opposite her.
"So, you are a Madam? Or Dominatrix?"

Aisha smiled as Mary had caught all her meanings, even though she had skirted around most of it. Listening to her reply Aisha enjoyed the woman and the conversation. It seemed she would defiantly have a friend of sort with her.
"Madam many times over, Dominatrix from time to time, I enjoy both aspects of those roles. I have other roles I have enjoyed as well." Other wishes as well those of course were on the back burner for now. She had gotten tired of all the poser's coming in and pretending just so they could say they were this or they were that or had tried this or had tried that. She really wanted something more permanent there for awhile but even that grew old to her. Thus she left went on her way and came here after her sabbatical away back in India.
Her reminiscing left the room silent for several minutes as she looked into her tea lost down the path for long moments. "But alas here I am, my story still rolling forward."

Mary nods as her suspicions are confirmed.
"For brief times, I have held similar roles. Would you believe, within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church?" She chuckles at the memories. Foolish old priests and their appetites for young girls and boys, and the sisters no yearned for more than a marriage to god.
"And, do not fear, I suspect you have a great many years ahead of you, to try newer things. Should you find a wish to be on the receiving end of the whip, I know a young lady who, while tame by some standards, is a true artist."

Aisha laughed at the church comment. "I have had a few in my days as well. No imagination to them at all. Quite a bore if I do say so myself." She was glad she had found someone who knew about her line of work and had been in it as well, outside of the actual line of work that is when they were in the element of it.
"I do hope I have many years ahead, I enjoy life and all it has to offer me. As for that wish, someday I may just take you up on that offer." She smiles and takes another sip of her coffee. "To touch on another topic that is itching me, how were you involved in the Second war?"

"A fair question. In my world, there are two main opposing groups. Much like the wizarding world, I guess. On the surface, to outsiders, one is civilised, political, charming .... humane. The other is wild, uncontrolled, vicious, and cruel."
she sets eats down her cup, and leans back in her chair.
"Now, by those definitions, one would expect the first group to side with the 'good' wizards, and the other to side with Voldemort and his death eaters."
"Now, I will have you know, that I belong to the second, and yet I sided with the first. My origins having only smallest input into my choice. You see, we are not barbarians as the others would have you believe, we are freedom fighters. And our fight and the fight against the dark lord, were very much the same fight."
She picks up the tea again.
"But, to answer your actual question ... I did not fight here at Hogwarts, but in the city, trying to help protect the innocent."

Aisha listened with interest as Mary told of her part in the Second war. "At this point, I find it hard to believe you are uncontrolled and wild." She smiled. "Cruel and Vicious seem to me to go with the territory of being what you are." Probably had something to do with much more than Aisha knew. "You come off very civilized to me in this moment. I am sure though if fables are to be considered true you could very well become uncivilized and wild. Again I only know folklore and until recently, like last week, didn't honestly believe in the myth of vampires."
She sipped the tea again. "The muggles of course have their views." She shakes her head. "It is appalling in my opinion that they would sparkle in the day light like a disco ball." She laughed. Those damn movies. "Even if didn't believe that vampires were real, I would never have presumed they could do that."

Mary growls when Aisha mentions sparkling vampires. Yes, she actually growls.
The shadows of the room begin to gather around her, and from those nearby long black tentacles emerge, eminating a deep cold. Mary's eyes have become icy, and her fangs extended. Her hair flies about her head like a dozen octopi in distress.
A small shadow detaches itself from the rest, and oozes onto Mary's lap, coiling there, slowly taking the form of a small cat. It begins to purr, and as it does, the rage fades from Mary's eyes, and the shadows quiet, until it is only Mary, and the black cat sleeping on her lap.
She looks down at it and smiles, petting it softly.
"Never mistake looks for reality, Aisha Ria. But you are right about one thing; vampires do not sparkle."

Aisha jumped out of her seat when Mary began to growl and the shadows came and her chair landed with a thud on the floor. She felt her breath hitch and her heart race. A part of her wanted to laugh but she couldn't quite find that laughter as she saw Mary's eyes become cold, the chill in the room rise, her hair flying and her white teeth that seemed a bit to long, grow even longer. She wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to move but she wasn't sure all of a sudden if staying her would be wise. I did just mention I enjoy life right?
The shadows from the walls grew and one seemingly to move of it's own accord detached from the rest and joined Mary. Following it with her eyes she watched as feline form came about out of the darkness in her lap. She heard the purr and then Mary became calm and finally spoke.
Aisha was shaken to say the least but a sudden thrill washed over her as she realized that all was good. She picked her chair up and took her place back at the table. "Alright no reference to pop culture. Note taken" She smiled though still nervous as her heart still raced in her chest. It was like coming down from that first high, then the second and so forth. That high not from drugs but from doing what she enjoyed in her younger life.

Mary doesn't look up to Aisha, but remains staring at the cat, which continues to purr.
"I am ..l. sorry, for my outburst. There are only so many god forsaken dime store hastily written volumes of pure trash that one my age can stand." She pauses, petting the cat some more. "At least Bram Stoker portrayed us as powerful. Not some weak love struck pansies."
She chuckles light heartedly, and looks up.
"Let me introduce you to my companion. This is Balthazar." She pets his head as he opens one eye to look at Aisha, then closes it again as if she holds no interest for him.

Aisha was surprised the tea had not become knocked over taking her wand back out she touched the pot once more to bring the tea back to a boil and poured herself a fresh cup and adding a bit more to Mary's to make it warm once more. "No need to apologize. I am sure you have heard many references to the pop culture side and maybe I was just the icing on that particular cake." She took a sip of her tea, calming herself as she drank once more. Though her heart still needed much work to stop pounding in her ears.
"As for the book reference, I am sure nothing can quite match what I just saw." She heard the chuckle and wasn't sure what kind of laugh it was precisely. "It is a pleasure Balthazar." She looks at the cat for a moment a smile on her face, most cat's didn't like her anyway. Which suited her just fine when he took his eye off her. She chased many in her early days after learning her animagious form was a falcon.

"So,what are your plans for the summer? Will you travel? Perhaps dive back into your business interests? I have a home in London that I enjoy in my downtime. And friends who come and stay now and then."
Mary was somewhat pleased that her little outburst hadn't frightened Aisha off. She wasn't usually so touchy about the Twilight thing, but for some reason tonight it had irked her more than usual. Maybe she and Aisha could be friends, in time. It was an unusual feeling.

Aisha settled back into her her previous state, her tea enjoyable and the company pleasant. The outburst was frightening but it showed Aisha how quick Mary could become angry and though it was heart pounding terror it was excitement in it's own way to the woman sitting there enjoying her tea with Mary.
"I will probably stop in on the business and see how it is going with the ones running the place. I don't have many other plans to be honest other than enjoying this cute little place I just bought out in Camden Town. Over looks the area and I can see the market from the terrace." She smiled the purchase was last minute only a day or so ago and though she had the money for down payments, the out right price was to steep for her, she was stuck with a mortgage.

Mary listens, nods, looks down at Balthazar in her lap, then up quickly at the mention of Camden Town.
"Truly? You bought in Camden Town?"
Mary wasn't sure to be thrilled or worried. Would having another teacher living nearby cramp her style, or would this woman become a close friend and neighbour? Only one way to find out...
"That's where I live," she smiled.
