"Sometimes they are simply hunted. More often they are invited from among the revellers to be our special guests. And we do treat them as such. Briefly. Whether they suspect, or are completely oblivious, varies I guess. It may seem hard, but we are predators, Aisha. As mortals, we did not ask the sheep or cattle their permission. Though some of us may have given thanks for their sacrifice. It is the same now. We are above mortals. We are predators, they are prey. We can pick and choose, we can feed carefully yet we'll, but sometimes the fatted calf must be slaughtered."
She feels for the neonate. Her humanity is still so real and raw. It was why so many new Cainites didn't survive their first year. It was either too much, and they chose the sunrise, or they let go of everything too quickly, and fell to their beast before they could find another path,
"It's a lot to assimilate, I know."

She sighs and shakes her head at the analogy of cattle. Her homeland didn't believe in the slaughter of cattle. The analogy though was used nearly world wide. She brings a hand to the bridge of her nose and holds it there a moment. She understood the need to survive, the chain of predator verse prey. The natural order of the cycle of life. She just didn't understand the killing. They didn't have to kill to live, like all human's they killed for sport or because like her they lost the fight with their beast and it was allowed out for a short time. This would not be easy for her.
"How many times are their ritae's such as this? That we must kill? We do not need to kill, it is a sport for Cainite." she turned slowly around looking at Mary. "We are no better then they are. They kill for the sport of it. If we do this, are we not just the same?" she forced a sigh and turned back to the window.
A blood tear ran down her face. Why? To bathe in blood? You could collect it by the bags and still have the ritae. Tradition. This is the way it has always been done. They are set in their ways. It is their way of life. I wanted this. I wanted to be brought into David's world. Whether it was sooner or later, I would of dealt with this. Will I loose to the beast during this? As a priest is that a bad thing or a good thing? I can't do this. There just isn't anyway I can condone more useless killing. To them it isn't useless. It is part of who they are. I am them. Somehow I must come to terms with this. How will I ever accept taking lives? I can I look myself in the mirror the next day? What will become of me? I have already killed, but I didn't want to do this again. I don't want to kill. I don't want to take part. There is no choice though. I must take part. I am the pack priest. David and Mary will expect this of me. What happens if I fail? What if I am not good enough by their standards to do this? To take part in it?
Aisha's thoughts were running away with her and the blood tears ran down her cheeks as she looked off into nothing. She had her back to Mary but her shoulder's were slouched and she was struggling internally with this.

"We don't kill for sport. Well, sometimes we kill Campires for sport, but that's another matter. When we kill mortals as part of our ritae, it is solemn ritual. There is nothing frivolous about it. Any major rite calls for a Blood Feast. Palla Grande, the Festival of the Dead, any War Party. Generally when a Blood Bath is called for, the blood used is the vitae of the participants only. So, to answer you properly I guess, unless we have need of a War Party, twice a year. It is expected that all Sword in good standing attend all Auctoritas Ritae. The code insists."
She watches Aisha. She knew the woman was struggling with the idea of killing. But as Priest, as future Bishop or more, she would need to get over her squeamishness. Her David was a killer. Mass murderer even. Mary wondered if Aisha knew.

The code insist's. That was the mantra in her head currently. All the rest seemed to fade away. She repeated it so many times in her mind she wasn't even sure if she might have said it out loud. She was living by the code now, the code was her guide, it was what she would follow and why David insisted on her becoming the pack Priest.
She wiped her face with a fabric hidden away in her blouse and placed it back where she found it. It was only twice a year unless a War Party was formed or some other event was called forth. She wondered if Mary would be going through the Blood Bathe ritae with her new position as Cardinal. Would Aisha herself need to go through one as well because she was the pack priest now?
"I don't like the idea of taking a life, no matter how small and insignificant that life may be. I know I must come to terms with it. That is who we are. We all are killer's. From the moment of our rebirth, our embrace. It is a fitting word is it not? Embrace. To embrace the life and path put before us. We must embrace if we are to endure are we not?" she asked almost coming off as a rhetorical question or statement.

"Any taking of life must be done with forethought and consideration. We are not random mindless beasts." She breathes for a moment. "Yes. We must embrace. And that is a good way of looking at it."
She picks up her glass, and drinks some more wyne.
"Do you have any questions at this point? Anything besides killing that you are struggling with?"

She laughs for a moment. "Ah but the beast is just that. A mindless killing machine is it not?" she turns around now and looks at Mary. She takes the seat next to her back and leans over picking up her wyne glass. She sips gingerly of the contents. Savoring it for the moment.
"Actually I do have a few questions. What is a Lextalionis? It is mentioned in the code but I have no idea what the word itself means or what it refers to. The same with Monomacy. And who are the Black Hand?"

Mary smiles.
"All good wuestions. Let's start at the beginning. Lextalionis. It's a term used by both Camarilla and Sword. It means Blood Hunt. For us, that means the Wild Hunt. For the Camarilla it means hunting down and killing the one blood hunted. They do it for many reasons, not limited to breaching heir masquerade, Diablerie, or killing other kindred. We call a Wild Hunt for betrayal. A Wild Hunt is more ... vindictive. We hunt, capture, torture, then burn those who betray us. Then hunt those who they shared secrets with and do the same to them."
Mary's face is solemn. She is deathly serious.

Aisha looks at Mary has she spoke. Taking in what she said. Then a thought crossed her mind. "Does this mean the two Tremere could call one on David? Or does the peace treaty you have with them cover him as well?" she needed to know the answer because if that was the case, David could be in real danger and it was something they seriously needed to be careful about.
More so when tour time came around. Who knows what kind of Cainite they may run into on the road.

"The treaty we have with them exists only in London. What they choose to do about David, if they learn his secret, is something I cannot control outside my city. Here, though. Here in this castle, he is safe. This is Elysium. Sacred ground none may violate. Or face the wash of the Keeper, Elezandra. If they choose to hunt him into New York, then there is no treaty there. You may slaughter them as you wish."

"I hope it doesn't come to that but I will protect him and our pact with my life if need be." she said quietly almost a cold like tone to it. She would do her best to protect her family and her Sect. She was part of it now. This was the way things were. If anything transpired then like Mary said, Kill as we wish

Mary nods. Very satisfied not just with Aisha's answer, but with the generous tone with which it was delivered.
"Excellent. Next. Monomacy. Another of the Auctoritas Ritae. When two Sabbat cannot settle a dispute or disagreement any other way, it is how we settle arguments. The details vary but the one thing that remains consistent ... it is a fight to the death. A you will understand, it is not called lightly, or frivolously, but only when a deep grudge cannot be settled."

Aisha once more listened intently on what Mary offered up next in her plethora of knowledge. The young neonate rather enjoying that she could pick the brain of someone five centuries older than she was. In time she was sure that Mary would come to be a great mentor and cherished by Aisha. She already cherished their friendship but this new side was just as important.
"A duel to the death, interesting. Have you ever called one?" she asked curiously. Obviously if she had, she had been successful. "Are our powers allowed as well? It must be difficult either way."

"I haven't, no. I've watched a few. The battles aren't always physical. Terms are agreed, the priest of the challenged Cainite gets to decide if the challenge is worthy, then presides over the rite. As I said, we take our ritae seriously."
Mary refills their glasses.
"The Black Hand. An internal division within the Sword. To put it simply, they are our military. Those most skilled in combat, and infiltration, that can be called at need. They often pack together, and are most loyal. Or so they say."

Aisha nods her head and sits for awhile thinking. There was much to think about currently. She sipped her bloodwyne and looked to Mary.
"I am not quite sure I have more questions currently. My mind is quite filled on this ritae coming up."

"Probably for the best. I have to get back to the school. I'm sure to have some brace first year or foolish sixth year beating down my door." She smiles. "I'm going to miss our tea sessions, but this is nice too."
She drains her glass, setting it down.
"I'd you need to contact me, I'm doing my best to remember to step outside the wards once a night to receive messages. I'll send you through contact details for the cardinal as soon as I have them."

Aisha nods her head and sips her glass. She figured she would stay awhile longer.
She set her glass down and stood. "Thank you very much for your time tonight my dear friend. I do appreciate it." she offered a slight smile.
"I shall look forward to the contact detail when you can reach out." Aisha will offer Mary a hug when she stood before she left.

Mary stands, returns the embrace.
"Until our next little chat, and drinking session." She laughs, and heads out.

Aisha watched as Mary left. She stood there for a moment and then picked up her glass and went back to the window. She stared out the window thinking over everything that Mary and her had discussed. She sighed forcefully. She had no idea how she was going to pull this off. How she would manage to be okay with this. She didn't even know how many people woupd be killed. "Taken like cattle to slaughter." she made a sound of disgust afterwards. Cattle to slaughter, they weren't cattle. Though she believed the spirit of her family for long passed were within the cattle until rebirth, she knew they weren't smart creatures. Human's were intelligent. Sure some were horrible but not all and they just want to kill them as a sacrifice. When did a blood ritual sacrifice come into play? Honestly, why was it needed?
Haven't we as a race grown passed the need to slaughter and sacrifice. She sipped her bloodwyne and stayed there staring out the window lost in her own thoughts.
